I really dislike food trucks.

More inconvenient than anything ... prices are comparable to sit down places .... the food is often mediocre ... the service sucks because they're cooking everything to order.... I don't enjoy eating out of a carboard boat.

Is the fad still growing or have they started to die out yet?

Food trucks would be awesome if you didn't need to mortgage your house to eat at one

You've obviously never had halal guys

There are quite a few here in Birmingham AL. 99% are Mexican food tho so if you've had one you've had them all.

my club used to run an event (last year was the last time we ran it)

and we'd send out requests to food trucks to come and pay the 25 dollar vendor fee we were asking from all vendors regardless of type and make money

last year we had 2 show up and agree to pay the 25 bucks (we weren't asking for a cut of their profit nothing) 25 bucks and they keep what ever they make we just wanted some food vendors
(we had 2 other traditional fair vendors show up as well)

but the vast majority replied back that they'd come but they wanted a guaranteed 500 profit.

Dude I know what you mean. The place i work has different types of food trucks come out at least three times a month. Not only that, but I think on the first Saturday or something of every month, my city closes down their "historical, old town" part of the city and its lined up with like 20 different food trucks with people everywhere. That shit is way too damn expensive. I can either buy a $12.50 cheeseburger, or go to the store to buy some meat and make burgers for my entire family that'll taste better than the food truck anyway lmao. Shits whack, but the fattys in my office love them.

Overpriced

This guy gets it.

Some aren't that bad but a lot are.  Went to a food truck rally and was stoked to see all the trucks there (at the beginning of the food truck scene in Orlando) and then I stood in line for way too long to get a decent but not crazy good fish taco that was too $ for what it was.  I chose the taco because it was the shortest line and wait.

No wonder people brought chairs and tables, in order to eat a meal you'd be there for 3-4 hours.  Not my scene.

The ones near S. Westlake in Seattle are fucking delicious.

I think they're great. They are a huge part of the food culture here.

I agree with all points.

A few years ago we had some good ones, now it seems like everyone and their mother quit their jobs and got a truck.

The food isn't very good, the prices are now MORE than a regular restaurant, and the god damned fucking lines.

I'm actually really surprised you don't have some weird alt-pan-asian-southern-fried-kobe-beef-vegan-enchilada truck that you're partial to.

I've always wondered at the cleanliness of those trucks.

there are some pretty good ones here

Food trucks are pretty damn good but very overpriced.

I have a friend who was a chef at Lincoln. He left and started a truck. HE has been all over television and is really popular.

He has some stories that will keep you from ever eating at a food truck again.

Oh oh oh let's hear them

this.

We got the "Food Truck Mafia" in the bay area Ca.

They set up on different days at different locations in parking lots of malls and business areas.

Love that shit. Plenty of variety with normally 6 or 7 trucks to select from and the food is good. Prices tend to range from $10-$13 a meal.

I've never gotten food from a food truck, and see no reason to in the future.

we still have great old school mexican ones that charge a very fair price
