I thought Americans don't like "soccer"?

"Despite only being a preseason friendly, Manchester United's match against Real Madrid at Michigan Stadium drew a sell-out crowd of 109,318 — a new record for a soccer match in the United States. The previous record of 101,799 was set by the 1984 Olympic gold-medal match between France and Brazil at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California."

not at all. Michigan has a very large middle eastern population that loves soccer. When I watched the news thats what I mostly saw, that and mexicans, one guy said he drove from Mexico City just to watch the game.

If my Facebook wall is a scientific sample, everyone that went either is a Mexican, Arab, or went with a Mexican or Arab.

But soccer is becoming more popular. Phone Post 3.0

The Yanks will obviously show up to watch world class football.

Im pretty sure they don't rock up to watch shit like Landon Donovan and Clint Dempsey.

Bro, we still hate soccer. All those in attendance had to have been foreigners residing in the states. ;) Phone Post 3.0

soccer is a pretty shitty sport

the only reason it is popular is because poor people can play it

if they changed the rules a bit, it could be great in America

tradition

also, most of you euro brahs are unaware but a majority of American youth grow up playing soccer

it is only during junior high and high school that the best athletes move on to different sports

it isn't like most Americans are ignorant about the game

be honest ... soccer could use some rule changes to make the game more fluid and exciting
