cg51mma - You guys are going to feel like complete fags when Eddie runs through khabib
Maybe he should quit ducking him then. I could sensitive einning. Would be a good fight. However you better hope he improved. Getting his ass kicked by Cowboy and having performances like eking out decisions to Gilbert and Pettis isn't going to cut it.
The disdain and callousness some fans have for fighters is appalling.
Alvarez won it in July. He has until next July to defend it. The UFC wants it sooner, against an opponent of their choosing at a date and time if their choosing? Cool. Then, pay the champ.

So you're OK with every UFC champ sitting out 1 year in between defenses, choosing their opponents, and ignoring the contract they signed and asking for any amount of money, reasonable or not?
It's crazy how much McGregor has changed the game. Before him shit like this was pretty rare. Not saying fighters didn't duck but champions rarely did. Now it seems as soon as someone gets a belt they went to choose who they fight and what they get paid all cause McGregor did it first. It's good for fighters getting paid but bad for the fan's in terms of getting the fights we wanna see

I agree but the problem is that Eddie doesn't really have any leverage. He's not Conor, he's not well known at all, and he'll get stripped if he keeps refusing fights.
Can anyone think of a time another champ refused to sign a bout agreement while trying to choose a different opponent? I am drawing a blank throughout the history of the UFC.
FrontBroRian - This thread won't go well for you Op.
However, if Woodley was refusing to sign the Wonderboy agreement with hopes of fighting a LW, the UG would want him stripped.
If Jones were champ and refusing to fight the number 1 contender while holding out for Bisping, the UG would call for him to be stripped.
If you're a fighter that's well liked, you can duck hard competition and it's ok. The UG will find ways to justify it.
What are you talking about.
Khabib is the number 1. ranked lightweight in the world. What precedent do you think it sets for future champs to tell the ufc to f off because they want an easier fight, or a "money" fight? It only hurts the sport and fans in the long term. People want to see the belts defended by their respective champions in their respective weigth classes.

This.
Who is Eddie Alvarez to tell the ufc what he wants to do? He hasn't earned that status in the ufc. He is no Jon Jones. No Anderson Silva. He is no BJ Penn.
Those guys actually fought any fight the ufc offered them. They weren't looking for "money" fights, money fights found them as they continued to work hard in their career.
evh - i'm fine with them stripping alvarez as long as they strip khabib's unearned #1 ranking
I have no idea how the UFC or media does their rankings, and I agree he should be be at #1. However, that still doesn't give Eddie the right to demand who he fights. He's now missed UFC 205 because he's refusing to fight someone in his weight class. And he's been offered the same fight at 206. If he refuses that, imagine he'll be getting stripped. No other champ has done that. It's not his place to make demands.
