Once upon a time I said that, on paper, these two guys should be vying for #1 in the world.
Gonzaga is a big HW with strong wrestling, heavy hands, brutally heavy kicks, and oh yeah, he's an ADCC champion.
Overeem is a big HW with strong takedowns, heavy hands, brutally heavy knees, K-1 champion, and Euro ADCC trials winner and only guy ever to submit Vitor (at the time).
Of course, neither guy has quite lived up to his potential -- Alistair has obviously fared a bit better -- largely due to apparent problems in conditioning and chin/heart.
I think it would be a great fight to make now. I'd love to see it.
I think Ubereem deserves higher competition than that. Cormier, Cain, JDS, Mir, Barnett, Big Nog- I think all of them stand an excellent chance at beating him. I'm only interested in seeing Reem fighting the top of the food chain. Let him prove his worth or take his 3 in a row and get his walking papers.

Gonzaga is on a winning streak, The Reem is not. I'd like to see either that or Reem vs Barnett.
More than anything I'd like to see Overeem join a legit camp, to remind him to keep his hands up, don't stand directly in front of your opponent with your hands down, and most importantly to remind him to wake up and run in the morning...or whatever it takes to get some cardio.
interesting style matchup, but rather just see him fight JDS now since they are both coming off losses and have the history of talking shit on eachother for the last year.

It's a shame that everyone bemoans the state of MMA today where it's the loudest talkers who get the big fights, but when it comes down to it everyone seems to fall for it.

Don't care about Gonzaga's streak. I'd rather Reem fight legit contenders, lose, and leave. Have him be the underdog for a change.
