He deserves it, what with being undefeated and the only guy with a win over the champ!
People only have a problem with "business" decisions and non-sporting decisions when they benefit guys like Brock and hurt guys like Werdum.
HAving problems with Nate Diaz doesnt bode well for him being number 1 contender
Or saying in an interview just a couple years ago that BJ toyed with him on the ground
Maynard would decision him to death. How boring would a 5 round Maynard blanket be?
Was the win over Joe Veres a lucky punch or will we ever see him knock out anyone ever again?
Maynard vs. Florian next....
BJ gets a rematch.

maynard earned the shot before edgar thats for sure...but its strange that after he fought nick he didnt deserve it by many accounts, but now he does...why is that....

This is the correct answer.
BJ has been the dominant champion for the last few years. There is no way that Maynard deserves it more than him.
"Or saying in an interview just a couple years ago that BJ toyed with him on the ground"
Like BJ would get him to the ground. BJ couldn't even take down Sherk or Edgar.
Maynard looked like crap against Diaz for some reason. It's odd because before that he was showing improvement every time out, and looked very good against Miller and Huerta. Against Nate it seemed like he had taken several steps back.
Here is what Gray had to say on the subject earlier today -

Screw that, I want a rematch.
orcus - Like BJ would get him to the ground. BJ couldn't even take down Sherk or Edgar.
"Couldn't" and "Never attempting" are two different things..
Penn-Maynard and Edgar-Florian IMO

Take down attempts against Edgar-0
Take down attemps against Sherk-0
Maynard would be the one wanting it one the ground his boxing is nowhere near Edgars or BJs.
I thought Maynard looked sloppy against Huerta too, his stand up looked like it was coming along against Miller. But his last two fights have been his worst in the UFC imo. Thats probably why not many people think he should get the shot
