Ideas: profit from local events

Our head coach also puts on local events which he pays for out of his own pocket, the last 2-3 shows he said he has actually been in the hole and said if the next event (Oct 6th) doesn't go well he would probably stop hosting local MMA events and sellt he cage, I really want the guy to do well as he works hard at it.

The town most are hosted at only has about 1,600 people in it although the event in Oct will be hosted at the East Kentucky Expo Center (Pikeville KY) so he may get a larger crowd.

Anyway my question is what ideas do any of you guys have for helping promote your events better?

Right now he does radio ads, flyers and word of mouth.

Thanks for any help.

Get college kids from around Kentucky to spread the word... use the internets (like facebook). I'd try to promote through the internet as much as possible. Find big organizations in the surrounding areas and contact them. Several area newspapers would also be good. I'm big into cars so if it was me (just an example) promoting a local show I'd go onto an area car forum because there alot of people, and usually they're in the age range which likes mma.

The cars forum is a good idea, if anyone else knows of any useful ideas please feel free to post.

He could make money via food concessions, not allowing people to bring in their own food/drinks. Have some beer, ballpark chow, etc

Look to cover the initial overhead with corporate sponsors
