If a fighter shows

if i fighter shows don't they automatically get there show money?

like (in reference to Chris's Thread) Erica showed up in FL all the way from Cali they fucked her (I was not there i do not know so i am just going with chris's story) on an opponent and then refused to pay her show $$$

isn't there something illegal about that?

depends on whats written on the contract and if they havnt signed the contract... legally atleast... they are not required to pay the show money.

Usually in the contract it states something to the effect of if it is not the fault of the promoter than no show money is awarded.

I have had it happen to me before and now I always read my contracts :).

Most contracts should avoid "show" money, and lean towards "win" money. So fighters have to fight to be paid and then are looking at more money "IF" they win............

What would be GREAT is.........

Both participates of a fight are paid, whatever amount it is that each have agreed to fight for.

But "IF" one fighter is able to finish the fight, well then he would be paid a sizable "finishing" bonus.

This would make fights more exciting and fun to watch.

i head thats how prode does it too.

you get XXXX ammount of money to fight and then if you FINISH (Sub/OK/TKO) you get a bonus. but if you win a decision you just get your fight money.

Smoking Guns must HATE nhb fighters talking like that.

Good, honest promoters will pay the fighters show money if he gets there and is prepared to fight but, by no fault of his own, is not allowed to compete.

IMO, for most fighter's the chance to fight is reward enough. The money comes in when you start asking fighters to train 3 hours a day and you start asking them to make weight. That is where the show money comes in. If you want it done right, then you take care of the guys who are willing to bust their ass for 6 weeks before the show.

You start to "lean towards 'win' money" and away from show money and you get a lot of guys with the attitude of those Toughman competitors. They'll fight for fun, if they win they get a little cash. But fuck training for it unless they are gauranteed money for the time and effort they put in the gym.

There are also organizations out there that have a No Judges Decision incentive.

I do not HATE nhb fighters...............

I just HATE the fact that nowadays everyfukinbody and their uncle are calling theirselves one.

This sport is getting more and more fighters that come in and fight "not to lose" rather than fight "to win"
Hell, some of the so-called top ranked fighters today,
act like they are scared to actually "initiate contact"
in fear of getting beat..........

And I'll bet I'm not the only one, who would like to see these events put up a little more "WIN" money!
