I ask this, because I plan on winning the lottery today and will lobby the olympic committee to place it as a olympic sport. I am sure Mit Romney can be bribed and pull some strings.
For every new sport that comes in, at least two have to be dropped. So what sports would you drop in order to get BJJ in there?
Luge and skeleton but those are winter sports and BJJ would be a Summer Olympic Sport. That stupid dancing sport with the ribbons on a stick for one and you pick the other.
If bjj became and Olympic sport it would start looking like modern Judo within a few years to make it more appealing and exciting to viewers.
BJJ, Judo and Wrestling could/should be combined into gi and no gi sub wrestling, IMO.
Boxing and TKD could/should be combined into K1 style kickboxing.
BJJ, Judo, Wrestling, Boxing, and TKD could/should be combined into MMA.

why can't we have all the sports? BJJ makes as much sense to someone throwing a big rock down the ice as the opposite. We shopuldn't have to dump any sports, we SHOULD have BJJ in the olympics though.
Yes on getting it in...no on replacing Table Tennis. Which is a fine sport. Equestrian - hell yes. That should be in the Animal Olympics.

i know this has been said before, but bjj is nowhere near meeting the most basic qualification standards. i think you need something like 75 countries with organzied federations (NGB's) and a whole lot of other stuff to boot. right now, from what i understand, BJJ doesnt even have 2 countries with formed federations (NGB's) that work for the betterment of the sport and provide services to members.
in other words, bjj needs to form a USA BJJ like judo has USA Judo in 75 countries around the world, get those 75 NGB's to send teams to the world championships, have a democratic process to elect international officers and so and so on...
with lottery money, all this can happen. I plan on winning today. I will keep you all posted.

they should drop tennis and baseball if they haven't already.
These sports are either self sustained already (Tennis has a global structure and grass roots development) and Baseball is just worthless.

What the fuck are you talking about? Olympic boxing follows amateur rules, which requires headgear and has never really been about KOs. This is how it's been for a LONG time.
