If Dana has "no interest" in Conor-GSP/GOAT fight?

Don’t we have a problem here if the promoter of the UFC has “no interest” (as he just claimed in an interview) in promoting the arguably biggest MMA fight in history because of his personal feelings towards GSP? When will Dana be accountable for his job performance?

He has no interest in that fight because he knows Conor would get destroyed.

If Conor and GSP want that fight, it will happen.

Dana doesn't want people to start thinking it's possible when it's far from happening at this point.

That fight would break records.

And then gsp would retire

What I think happens is they finally create the 165 division and GSP will fight Conor for the belt and no matter what history is made because someone becomes the 1st ever 3 division champ. Then Till gets 5 more pounds because it gets bumped to 175. I think they want Till to hold the title because he's a brit and they love that market. I dont think he makes weight for his title fight btw

If you believe anything that’s out there, it’s to do with professional feelings with St Pierre.

Georges told us he was contractually obligated to defend the belt at 185 were he to win it. He went out of his way to publicly reveal this. No idea why he would do that but probably because half the MMA fan base called foul him cutting the line at 185 and calling him on his BS, citing he was not about to defend were he to win. Many saw the cash grab and open door to grab a belt in a division he has NO business being champions of.

Perhaps White gave him the shot ahead of the others and against the lame duck champ where he stood a very good chance of winning because of GSP’s assurances to defend. As soon as St Pierre is done partying and vacationing (About a month and a half later) he claims to have been unable to keep his poop in his ass and it’s been squirting out everywhere leading up to the fight and since then while on holiday. He pulls a GDR/Conor and refuses to ever defend the belt. He promptly relinquishes it and moves on having duped White.

I hardly agree with any of the moves White makes which have largely made UFC uninteresting to watch and down right merit less/loss of prestige to UFC belts. I entirely agree with this, however. GSP refused to defend despite going out of his way to insure us he would. Give him all the non title fights he wants. No fights vs champions until he defends at 185.

UFC should just let GSP go. Sell his contract to Bellator, Rizin, Golden Boy, whatever he wants.

The juice ain't worth the squeeze anymore.&nbsp;&nbsp;Let him fight Ray Cooper in PFL.</p>

Belts don’t matter, Dana made that happen.  So GSP dicked everyone over.  That was a BS move on his part.  Him vs Conor is the most marketable fight the org has, and it is very marketable.  As long as Conor beats Khabib.

Too many what ifs right to promote a fight involving a guy that pissed off the boss.  If Conor wins, he will call out GSP and Dana will be all over it.  These belts are basically the jar of lollipops at the doctor’s office at this point.

Beautiful

Great post

OP - it’s a good job that Dana has absolutely no say in what happens in the UFC any more. He’s just a puppet spokesperson, controlled by the real men behind-the-scenes.

If WME want that fight to happen in 2019, all they need to do is snap their fingers and sign the cheques... then watch as Dana is wheeled on stage to contradict himself for the millionth time that week.
