How do you think it would have gone?
This is around the start of Fedor's decline. Even though he KO'd Arlovski, he didn't look that impressive for those first couple of minutes.
His next fight against Brett Rodgers wasn't much better. So with this in mind, how likely would it have been that Vitor would be the first guy to beat Fedor?
I can't remember who Vitor's last fight in Affliction was around this time (an Overeem loss I think) but I think his speed would've given Teddy a lot of trouble.
Could he have beaten Fedor?
Could have? Sure. Would have? I wouldn't say so.
Fedor was definitely no longer at his peak but he still had the tools needed to get it done. Vitor would've made for an interesting matchup though.
This is MMA and anything could happen, but I couldn't imagine vitor beating fedor. Especially during that time frame. I thought he looked great against arlovski.
Double dick wank wake up after double knockout
FinestScotch - TRTitor has the "God given" power and speed to blitz and sleep anyone.Yeah but was he "TRTitor" back then?
I know he was reluctant to admit that he was even on TRT about a year ago so it makes me wonder how long he's been using it.
It would have been a great fight IMO. 2 absolute legends that have so many finishes on their resumes makes me think it wouldn't have gone the distance.

Let's not act like the vitor of then is similar to the vitor of now. Back then Fedor all day.
Vitor would have mentally broken, as he usually does in big fights.

Vitor KO'ing Lindland was one of the scariest finishes ever.

UGCTT_TFK_UncleSam - This is MMA and anything could happen, but I couldn't imagine vitor beating fedor. Especially during that time frame. I thought he looked great against arlovski.Arlovski was giving him real problems on the feet. I thought Fedors standup was pretty poor in that fight.
Agree that he would have beaten Vitor had it happened though. He was still Fedor and Vitor wasn't quite the consistent wrecking machine he is at the moment (although he was definitely getting there).

It would've been a crime scene.

saying fedor didn't look good right before he KO'ed his opponent shows your lack of respect for the GOAT.

He was coming off back to back KOs of Martin and Lindland. His last loss was to Dan Henderson 3 years earlier.

Fedor didn't do much before the knockout but neither did Andrei. Almost all of his punches hit Fedor's shoulders or grazed his head. Not one of them landed cleanly.
Jack Slack broke it down pretty well in his article analysing Fedor's striking game (http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2012/5/31/3053056/fedor-emelianenko-striking-technique-pride) the segment on the Arlovski fight is near the bottom.

orcus - "I can't remember who Vitor's last fight in Affliction was around this time (an Overeem loss I think) "Thanks. After taking the 10 seconds to actually look it up, he fought Overeem in SF.

Vitors last fight in affliction that was lindland I think
Didn't terry martin fight in one of afflictions events?
so we're retroactively hyping Vitor as a destroyer by saying he could have beaten Fedor had they fought in 2009? Is that what's happening?

Fedor isn't a 40 year old glass jawed wrestler like Lindland, and, even at his most stupid, he isn't dan henderson runing in with his head down. Vitor beats the stupid, even at his most stupid, Fedor is good enought o kill Vitor at any point. This is an awful thread trying to retcon Vitor Belfort into always being a great fighter despite that not really being the case at all.
