Would he have got the nod in his fight with Bones?
I'd say his chances would have been better if he was champ. I believe that you really do have to BEAT the champ to be the champ. Close decisions don't seem to cut it, and there's nothing wrong with that, it's just the way it is.
gus would be champ if jj hadnt landed 10 head kicks in the last few rounds
I think Gus could have been given the nod if he was the Champ, but understand Jones winning.
The strikes landed in the cage definitely helped Jones win but damage wise...hasn't it been confirmed that Jones was the one who went to the hospital after that fight on a stretcher while Gus was walking around and taking pictures of him.
Both guys fought very well but I distinctively recall thinking Jones looked much more damaged than Gus.

Yeah...ok

General Tao -It's an interesting mindset to say the least.UGCTT_TFK_UncleSam - I'd say his chances would have been better if he was champ. It's harder to get a close decision if you're the challenger unless you have the crowd behind you like Forrest/Rampage.
If you're the challenger you need to decisively win. YOu cant be coasting in the 5th round the way Hendricks did with GSP.
Outlaw'd by Lytle -Tbh I sort of get what he's saying but IMO it's wrong. You shouldn't automatically lose a championship fight because you have trouble submitting or knocking out the top guy in the world.General Tao -It's an interesting mindset to say the least.UGCTT_TFK_UncleSam - I'd say his chances would have been better if he was champ. It still doesn't matter coz JBJ beat Gus.
Unless this is a pro-Gus thread, then I'm out.

The picture all the jones haters like to point out of him in the hospital, yes, Gus is with him. Meaning, both were in the hospital. It's fairly standard after such a war. Jones had a fat lip and swollen eye. No big deal after 25 minutes of fighting
