We all know what he needs to do. He can keep earning those $50k paychecks with the UD's as long as he wants. That's a solid paycheck, and it is way more than most guys in this sport are making. When he wants to give himself the leverage to make anywhere near that Anderson Silva money though, he just needs to go out there and put the crowd on it's feet. Does not matter how, he just needs to do it. Whether its by going out there and throwing bungalows, or by becoming a popular/notorious persona (Sonnen anybody?) through a microphone. Right now he is doing neither.
Until then, you can't hate Fitch for earning his paycheck. He goes out and dominates within the rules, and he is just trying to eat. But we know, he knows, and DW knows what it will take for Fitch to break into six figure paydays.
When Jon Fitch makes people go: "Oh shit!", then he will finally get what he believes he is due.

What purists try to ignore is that the money in MMA comes mainly from its entertainment factor. Fitch's style is highly effective under the current rules, but if everyone followed suit the average UFC paycheck would be $100 because the UFC would be right back to being an obscure fringe sport with no PPVs. Every truly successful fighter understands that entertaining crowds and building a fan base is a crucial part of the game, not somehow in opposition to it. Every current UFC champion + all the major contenders OTHER than Fitch get this.

Screw that shit. If a fighter is winning but is boring as fuck, I have no interest in watching him fight (i.e. GSP, Fitch). That is simply our opinion and everyone is entitled to be a fan for their own reasons and NOT yours.
Jon Fitch is like an eclectic indie band with no mainstream appeal. His small but loyal following will declare he's the best and if you don't agree you don't know shit about music. Nobody else gives a fuck.
The weird thing about Fitch is both his supporters and his naysayers are right. He's very clearly an elite fighter who should probably be favored against anyone but GSP. From a pure sport standpoint, you have to rank him top 10 P4P IMO. He's also the least entertaining fighter on the fucking planet. It's a PPV-driven business and he will never be a draw, plain and simple. Sometimes I wonder if he's actually bad for business, because having him on a card sure as hell isn't a positive.
