If Jones beats Cormier, is this the perfect time?

Make his official move to Heavyweight to challenge the interim heavyweight champion (Hunt/Werdum winner). Assuming Cain is going to be out until Late Spring/Early Summer. Phone Post 3.0

priziesthorse - No.
Why not? If he wins the Interim title from Werdum/Hunt.. he will get Cain coming off a long lay-off which bodes better for him. Phone Post 3.0

Plus it spices up the Heavyweight Division which lacks contenders. Phone Post 3.0

I think he's after the record. Plus he has the winner of Rumble/Gus coming up, and Davis/Bader/OSP could all get into contention pretty soon. Lots of good fights for him. Phone Post 3.0

Not at all. There are still fights for him at LHW. What's the rush? This isn't a movie where we are trying to have the perfect story line for Jones career. Phone Post 3.0

Werdum weighed in at 232 I wonder what Jones would weigh without a cut. Phone Post 3.0

He would be 235 easily. I'm sure his weight is typically around 230 as it is while making sure to not get heavy. Phone Post 3.0

If I were Jones, I would NEVER go to HW.

Why would I? I'd have an enormous reach and size advantage at LHW, and I'd avoid the heavy hitters of HW.

Should he go to HW just so the Zuffa Corporation could make more money? Fuck that. He's fine where he is.

Not yet but I think it's getting close (If he actually wanted to). He has to get through Cormier 1st, which will be no small task unless he catches him clean with a spinning elbow or knee early, and then I think he has some unfinished business with Gus and definitely needs to fight Rumble, Outside of those 3 I can't really think of anybody else I'm even remotely interesting in seeing up against him. If I were Jones I would probably use the Spider strategy. Only move up in weight if the match up is right.

I think he should stay where he is, he has the perfect frame for his rangey style at lhw but at hw he hasn't got his advantages and he's going to pack power, can't see him beating any of the hw strikers jds reem Browne Hunt etc Phone Post 3.0

He doesn't seem anywhere near Werdum's size. Phone Post 3.0

Yes Phone Post 3.0

the days of champions moving up a weight class to fight another champ died with BJ Penn.

It's too much of a financial risk and today there are so many more contenders than there used to be.

Could Jones beat some of the top heavyweights? Yes. I would love to see how he reacts to taking real hits from the big boys. Phone Post 3.0

The heavyweights a generally much less skilled than the fighters at lhw and mw Phone Post 3.0
