While he's had some ups and downs, he has consistently shined through when you didn't expect it, sooo... let's see what happens, I guess.

That's my point. He will have faced some of the stiffest competition to date, with the exception of a few notable opponents (i.e. Aleksander, Hunt, etc.).

It was a tall order for him to beat Belfort I, Liddell I, Ortiz, and Sylvia. As I see it, it can be done by Randy. It's only a question of 'WILL it?'
Frankly, no. He has too many losses, been stopped too many times. In his last three fights at heavyweight he is 1-2. In his last three fights at lightheavy he is 1-2. All 4 of those losses where by TKO. Greatest of all time? No way.
Yeah, but he's facing the best of the best - not Coleman, Ogawa, and Zulu (the list goes on and on).
He is awesome. No doubt about that. And is a great fighter. But not the best. But he is the most loved and has the biggest fan base imo.

Too many losses on the record to be considered the greatest. A great fighter, absolutely. The best eva...Nope.
What difference does it make if you face the best and lose? His fights against the best heavyweights have resulted in losses. Fedor has also fought top flight competitors in Hunt, Nog, Cro Cop and he WON those fights.

I don't think he'd be the best by any means. Winning against gonzaga and beating guys that Fedor has already beaten would not make him superior to Fedor. Plus Randy's record isn't spectacular even recently. What did he do to deserve the title shot? He got KO'ed.

if he gets past gonzaga (which i think he will) then i think he will lost to nogueira/cro cop/fedor, but id love to see any of thsoe fights.

And I agree, he won't make it past Pride's Big 3- Fedor, CroCop, Nog- so he'll never be considered the best fighter. Still, Randy is the man- the best spokesman MMA can have during it's switch to mainstream sports.
