He would absolutely destroy 90% of the UFCs HW divison imo. The man needs to take his ass back to Holland and workl on basics. His ground game is fine and he has a very dangerous guard. I think the lack of gear is getting to his head and he is just trying new looks and not focusing on what got him to where he is.
The Overeem of old was a come forward Dutch Striker, that would work you over in the clinch and overwelm you with knees and punches. What we have now is coaches(Jackson/Winklejohn) exploiting his athleticism instead of the long years of technique and hard dutch training. These dudes are making him soft imo.
WHen he was fighting in Pride, he was a completely different fighter. Even in K-1 he was putting together combos..1 2 3 leg kick, 323 leg kick etc
If he intends to stay in America and work with big camps, I suggest Rufous SPort. I think that would be the best fit with him because the hard focus on kickboxing and a real legend with a different look to work with.
I know Jacksons has great training partners with huge names more his size, but its all about finding that right coach to get where you need to be.
Pretty sure Jacksons isnt that spot.
Overeem....I always said you were overrated and would get exposed in the UFC. That being said, if you actually put it together like you are actually capable of doing, you would have a real chance at UFC gold. You're like an assault rifle being handled by an African....just not on point. You need to be handled by someone who is an expert at what you do.
The end.
This is why fighters avoid this place.
Watch Overeem fight Ben Edwards in K-1, then watch the Ben Rothwell fight.
Edwards and Rothwell are of similar size and style, I would argue Edwards is a better boxer. Roids and Golden Glory training had Overeem fighting like a completely different person. He has been too loose in the UFC, he fighting Bigfoot like he was Roy Jones Jr, Golden Glory would have never had him doing that shit, he was never a technically amazing kickboxer, he got by with a high guard and single counter shots thrown with massive power.
EckY - Watch Overeem fight Ben Edwards in K-1, then watch the Ben Rothwell fight. The Reem was a fuckin WMD during his K1 run. I thought he killed that black dude with the dreads with that knee, my god. And that counter right hand against Edwards was like he detonated a grenade on the guys dome. He was the motherfuckin juggernaut

OP tranes Chakuriki imo
titoscared - didnt he fight like a dutch kick boxer against chuck
Im not saying the style he used was unbeatable, but it was more him. What we see nowadays is a product of a bunch of different mindsets molding him into....well this.
Also, Im just giving my two cents as a a guy that has watched combat sports all of his life and has seen the transformation of fighters over the past two decades. Not that my opinion matters, but I think there is some truth too it for sure.

Sergei paid that shit back in spades, brah.
Idk, Overeem has pretty much stayed the same.
He has looked different, but he has always been super talented but he has always faded fast when the fight wasn't going his way.
His level of competition has fluctuated, but Reem has always been Reem imo.
