And it doesn't matter what silva did in the past, this is a 'what have you done for me lately sport.' I don't want to see Hughes, Penn, Liddell, etc. get a title shot either if they suddenly decided to return.

He needs two wins really before getting in there w weidman again. Beat diaz then let the winner or rockhold/bisping fight weidman whilst anderson fights a mousassi, kenedy, romero, then he might have shaken off enough rust to get back in there with (likely) weidman again. A quick fight against diaz isn't going to be enough to shake off the cobwebs.
