No one would complain he clearly beat Leites and did it without a scratch and could have fought again right after.
MMA fans are idiots sometimes they rather see two guys ( less skilled ) go in the ring and just swing at each other until one of them gets knocked out. Then see a master go in the ring and fight his game to perfection dominating his opponent without taking any damage.
Silva fought a beautiful fight but people call it the worst fight ever.
Some MMA fans are retarded hope you enjoy the new movie "Fighting" seems to be up your alley if not you can always rely on " Never Back Down".
ben sherman - get used to it. the sport is becoming ultimate kickboxing and its a fucking shame.
yup. been trying to figure out why so few fights in the big shows end in submissions these days. it seems that there's a stigma in going to the ground as even pro mma fighters are saying they plan to keep it on the feet because they think that's what the fans want. very disappointing.
^agreed.
Have you guys ever SEEN K-1? If this were a K-1 MAX fight and Silva refused to attack, he'd be destroyed by aggressive guys like Buakhao or Kraus.
"been trying to figure out why so few fights in the big shows end in submissions these days."
Because it's incredibly hard to submit a skilled fighter with MMA gloves. There's a reason the guys getting subs these days are usually true wizards like Maia and Hazelett, and even then look at all the trouble Maia had against second tier guys like Herman and Macdonald in fights that were spent entirely on the ground. Or look at Jacare failing to sub Mayhem and Marcelo having a nobody's back for an entire round and not getting the sub (and getting TKO'd shortly thereafter).
i just want to know if everyone crying "purity of the sport" and all this bullshit about being a technician instead of a brawler can answer me one thing: would you be excited and happy with MMA if every fight was like Anderson's last night? i'm not saying i want to see unskilled brawlers sluggin it out. i want to see people with great skills USING those great skills. Anderson has incredible skills, but chose not to use them last night. that's the problem. we all know his skill level and last night, he didn't use any of it, not because Leites was that tough and wouldn't let him, but because he held back and refused to use them. when people with real skills go all out on each other and use those skills to their best, THAT'S where you'll see the purity of MMA. not when a skilled fighter stands around pot-shots an inferior fighter for 25 minutes...

This is the best you can do orcus ? ? To blame it on the gloves ? ? ?
Yeah, because we never see submissions in MMA when they have gloves on...
Idiot.
K-Dub-"T" - Is anyone who disagrees a Leits nuthugger?
Cos what he did was disgusting, but so far evryone's blaming Silva for what Leits did... because they're idiots...
i don't think anyone can blame Silva for what Leites did. Leites was scared and didn't want to engage really. i think the blame on silva should be that with his immense skill and abilities, he didn't put away a fighter he easily could have, but chose not to. that's where the blame should fall for him...
I fail to see how Silva showed any more aggression than Leites. Which was only a shade above nil.
After that first round I was already pissed at both fighters. There was no excuse for it. All it shows is that it's possible to pitter-patter your way to points victory in MMA if you don't want to meaningfully engage.
You found a way to win under MMA rules without risking any harm to you or your opponent in the process. Don't expect people to like you for that. It's supposed to be a fight, not salsa dancing.
I'm pretty sure buttflopping is not allowed in K-1.
I don't pay to watch K-1 If I did I would want to see knockouts or at least interesting fights
