... consider the fact that Sergio Gasparelli - "Babu" - who worked with Machida leading up to UFC 98, is now at Imperial Athletics, working with Hasha - which I'm sure Babu calls him.
And how would the rematch come about?
Shogun loses to Jon Jones, then immediately requests a rematch vs. an opponent he previously lost to (Forrest).
Rampage loses to Jon Jones, then immediately requests a rematch vs. an opponent he previously lost to (Shogun).
Now, Rashad loses to Jon Jones - inevitable, I'm afraid - then immediately requests a rematch vs. an opponent he previously lost to (and that could only be one fighter).
I think rashad wins a rematch if he uses his wrassling
Rashad looked like an animal in his last fight. Im sure a rematch looks very different.
I'm a little bias but Rashad beats Machida in a rematch.
Rampage was able to pull out a decision over 3 rounds I'm sure Rashad can pull one out over 5.
Rashad went in with an awful gameplan in their first fight (thanks, Greg) and paid a painful price for it. His new coaching and training at Imperial has him come in with a completely different gameplan and he beats Machida.
Rashad has his killer instinct back.
But in addition to the "Babu factor," another issue could be who wants second place more - that being all either of them will ever get so long as Jon Jones is still around.
unless one of them is champ, that fight will likely never happen. Nobody wants to see it... the first fight was a one sided beat down.
Id rather see shogun vs rashad.

He was only fighting Tito.
Machida would ko him Again no one is really the best it's a couple guys whose styles match up differently
Rashad by decision or Machida by KO
I think Machida is to Rashad how Edgar was to BJ some fighters will always have your number.
Da Ghost - I think rashad wins a rematch if he uses his wrassling <img src="/images/phone/apple.png" alt="Phone Post" border="0" style="vertical-align:middle;"/>
Not that simple but would def serve him better, all it does is add another dimension of attack.
The Machida loss is what actually made Hashad go back and reincorporate the wrestling. Now the thing is, its still easier said than done, Machida distance control is so great that i think any guy will be challenged to take him down - even Jones? not sure but def wont be easy for Hashad imo.
Darth Ryase -slamming - Rashad looked like an animal in his last fight. Im sure a rematch looks very different.

When i saw the fight, i was expecting more a beatdown. Tito is tough but it wasnt exactly a murder, Rashad did kick ass but still took him a while. Good sign but not the most dominant performance ever.
AC Slater - I'm a little bias but Rashad beats Machida in a rematch.

Machida is stronger in a 5 rounder since he is a slow starter. Did you forget that he figured Rampage out in R3 and was all over him?

While i think Rashad should have never abandoned his wrestling altogether in the first place and not sure if Jackson planned it that way but not sure what was so "awful" about it otherwise.
What else could we have seen from Rashad at the time? Maybe some td attempt, agree. But Rashad wasnt figuring Machida out on the feet like Shogun. Dont think that would happen even now. I do think he can do better and still win but i think that only comes from having fought Machida already and seeing how Shogun fought him after.
Machida just had Rashad timed down the line with his left like he did everyone up to then.
i seem to have stumbled into a wrong convention
ClinchedUp - I think Machida is to Rashad how Edgar was to BJ some fighters will always have your number.
Exactly what I've been saying. LHW is so stacked Jones is bound to find someone with his number
But if Rashad did get beat badly again, he would have all the information he'd need to make an informed decision about whether or not to move down to 185.
And he surely would move down in that case.
