The BJ thread about having competition in other countries as a way to filter them into the UFC to build a global brand got me to thinking about what happened with the NBA with Yao Ming.
No player has ever used such mediocre talent and made a company more money with that mediocre talent then Yao Ming. China overnight became a HUGE market for basketball.
With over 1 billion people and a fighting culture with martial arts you would think that there would be 1 high level Chinese fighter. Imagine how many ppv buys this would bring in for the UFC. Until this happens I don't see the UFC being a truly global brand
