If we fought the Japanese as long as the Taliban..

...the War against Japan, after the 1941 sneak attack on Pearl Harbor, would still have been going on in 1960.

After the Army Special Forces and CIA defeated the Taliban in 2001, we should have turned the country over to our Northern Front Afghan allies, declared victory, and gone home. Instead, it has become another way for corrupt pols of both parties to make money by diverting the taxpayers' money into propping up a country while our valiant soldiers lose lives and limbs. After 19 years of combat, if the Afghans can't stand on their own two feet and sustain a government, we've done all we can. We've won, already. Time to bring the troops home.

Who's going to guard the US poppy fields?
