If you have low testosterone...

maybe it's time to retire?

an pro-athlete with low testosterone doesn't make sense

time to retire Nate

all of these poor pro athletes with low test.. what a fackin joke

started with Randy and should have ended with the "Natural"

prior steroid use can cause low testosterone levels. a lot of these guys probably have low levels now because of PEDs they took in the past.

see 4 posts up...its exactly what going on, nate pretty much said it himself. Used an over the counter at the time yet "banned" substance for years that had "Andro" in the name...hmmmmmmmmmm

I served in the marines, did a tour in Iraq so I was a very active person with no issues. I came back and start exhibiting similar issues. At the time I did nothing about it, I thought I was just adapting to a more sedentary lifestyle. Soon I started putting on a lot of weight and dropping lots of muscle. I also started feeling less assured and confidant in myself. I decided to see a dr and found out my T levels dropped dramatically and they were around 155. That means I am the bottom 5% of the population which is worse than a 85-100 year old healthy adult. If I was normal I should have been around 650.

If you don't have it you won't understand it. I think it's unfair to sit and point fingers to an affliction that is very real and can change your lifestyle like diabetes will. I have to now take testosterone twice a day for the rest of my life which is not fun. Phone Post

njfinest - maybe its a bullshit excuse for taking PED's

It IS a bullshit excuse for taking PED's. Why do u think they have low T in the first place? Phone Post

13 Ways to Naturally Boost Your Testosterone Levels

By Ron Geraci, Men's Health, December 25, 2000

The normal level of testosterone in your bloodstream is between 350 and 1,000 nanograms per deciliter (ng/dl). Like combable hair, those quantities silently start to wane around age 40. You lose about 1 percent a year -- a harmless decline in the short term, but a cause of obesity, brittle bones, muscle loss and impotence by the time you reach your 60s -- if you live that long. Testosterone levels in the low range (a blood serum score below 350 ng/dl) may increase your chances of dying of a heart attack.

It's not just an old man's problem, either. Men in their 30s and 40s also fall prey to low testosterone counts. It's a disorder called hypogonadism, and it can be caused by an undescended testicle, a testicular injury, a pituitary gland disorder or even prescription drugs. It usually goes undiagnosed until a man hits his doctor with a telltale complaint: "I can't get an erection."

"If you have reduced levels of sexual desire, have your testosterone level checked immediately," says Dr. Allen Seftel, a urologist at Case Western Reserve University Hospitals of Cleveland. You can replenish your testosterone stores with injections, gels, pills or patches, but these medical treatments are no panacea: Side effects include acne, high cholesterol, shrunken testicles and liver damage. Further, don't take supplements like DHEA or androstenedione to boost testosterone; they might increase your risks of prostate cancer and heart disease.

"For men with borderline testosterone scores, I advise them to try to raise their levels through exercise and weight loss before going on testosterone therapy," says Dr. Goldberg. And it might pay to start young. "Since your testosterone declines at a steady rate, it's conceivable that raising your hormone levels naturally in your 20s and 30s could help you maintain higher levels later on," he says. Either way, the reward can be a stronger physique and better bedroom sessions than you'd otherwise deserve. Below are 13 tips designed to get your juice up -- safely.

I believe there is much more to the story based on Dana's reaction. Then again maybe he was pissed because he spent a lot of money promoting Nate for this fight and he never came clean with Dana about this issue in advance. As far as PEDs, they are rampant in all sports and many MMA fighters use them.

Its pretty simple the reality is one we can observe with our own two eyes.

IF you have low testosterone:

A) You likely weight 185-220 Lbs
B) You are a superb physical specimen
C) You are likely able to beat or challenge for Championship titles in Mixed Martial Arts against elite competition for your weight class (Sonnen, Marquardt, Henderson, Couture)
D) You could probably wrestle in the Olympics or come close to it.
E) You probably have a future in making macho-action movies when you 9-5er ends.

If you don't meet the above criteria you are probably suffering from a condition where you have a NORMAL amount of testosterone or even slightly elevated levels, this is obviously affecting your life and training in a very negative way consult your doctor immediately.

Sorry to hear that bro. I wasnt trying to make it seem like your condition is something to be brushed aside. I do believe low testosterone does afflict some people. But in this case, its pretty obvious what happened, he even admitted to taking a "supplement" for years that caused his testosterone to be low. Ive always been a fan of marquardt, but in my honest opinion I think this is a case of a guy who was juicing and didnt cycle off correctly. Even if he was doing TRT, his condition was caused from previous PED use.

Thing is, in the case of MMA athletes, its sort of and odd coincidence that every one of them that develop "low Testosterone" all happen to be ripped and built like Brick shithouses. Seems strange to me. I have no doubts its a serious condition, but the guys who claim to have it in MMA make me scratch my head.
