IFL loses $6.8 M in 2Q - GOODBYE

I like the IFL. I hope they don't go under.

the team concept doesn't do much for me. but i hope they can hang on somehow anyway. it's a shame to see an organization collapse.

I agree with lefthighkick, they need some live events. Ask yourself, would the NFL have their games on sunday, and show them on TV the following week. Of course not. Why? Because that would be fucking stupid. IFL needs to change some things.

I've watch it once on tv since its been on and it was a total accident I found it on.

They're going to have to do better then brodcasting on the WB to get the exposure it's looking for.

Dana was interviewed on a "business" news show. Because the UFC is private, Dana will not give out revenue and profit info but stated that this year will be the year they turn the corner to profitability, then added that the F. brothers are expecting Dana to have the UFC turn the corner this year. Even the F. brothers were quoted as not being entirely happy with the return on investment.

They interviewed Franklin and his old math classroom where he taught.

I never saw "hate". People interpret news that doesn't fit their desires as hate. That's why it's a maxim that you don't invest in something because you like the event, team, product, etc. Basically, the average slob is getting fucked here. This is not the Fertittas spending their own money. This is not like early UFC in any respect, including the fact that they paper 80% of their houses. Every single thing they do hemorrhages money. None of it is being spent as an investment or for the future but just for day to day. Stop playing the fool.

I've loved the last couple of shows, and would love to see them continue. My first paragraph and this paragraph are not inconsistent at all. Get it?

^^^good point. I also don't see any posts on here that would be characterized as "hate". If anything, the UFC gets the majority of the "hate" posts on these boards.

anyway, who knows, maybe IFL will struggle along and somehow make it, but for now even a $0.50 share price seems high with more than 50 million shares.

no live events is holding them back.

I dont think anybody can clearly project their future.
Isnt the point of business to lose money at 1st...And dont both Gareb and Kurt have Rock Solid business prior to this. Its a Write off for several years and a good one at that.

If they made a Video Game with Career Mode...Id be all over.

I like fights, and I like IFL fights too.

THEY can project their future, and they said earlier in the year that they were going out of business no later than next month unless, as occurred, they got a new infusion of money. Naturally, they would like to continue this aproach if possible, but it is unlikely. Their business plan is not to invest/lose money at first by building a franchise and then evolutionally going into the black. The live events and the tv show are not popular by any index. Their plan is simply to stay on life support and hope something big happens.

^^^^ IFL's filing says if they don't raise even more equity or get new sponsors or other sources of revenue by early 2008 they may have to discontinue operations. Standard warning language I know but scary for anyone who invested or is owed money by them!

ouch

So they "bought" 4 months.

The stock was added to the Nasdaq threshold securities list -

"A security will make the threshold list if it meets the following criteria over five consecutive settlement days:
1) The total number of fails to deliver exceed 10,000 shares,
2) The total number of shares that have failed to deliver exceed 0.5% of the outstanding shares and
3) The security is listed on a similar list by a self-regulatory organization.

Once a company is added to the list it remains there until the 'fails' fall beneath the benchmark standards for five consecutive trading days. Many stocks that have allegedly seen naked short selling will end up on this list. "

dsr, does "fail" mean that attempts to sell found no buyers?

rip

I hope the IFL can turn things around. Some "live superfights" is what they need. Shamrock vs. Frye for starters. I've got my tickets for the Chicago Grand Prix in November!!!

goku is correct, it means people are shorting the stock. Selling it witout owning it. Basically they are borrowing the stock selling it at a price in hopes the price will fall. Once price falls, they buy the stock to cover the "borrowed" securities.

Well I stand Corrected. Im gonna Check this thread in 4 months.

The Ifl needs to have pay per views or live events to stay a live IMO. I think they lose a lot of fan base based on the events beeing showed a month to 2 months later. Pay per views will bring in money and expand their fan base. Which will bring in more money from sponsors and what not. Is the IFL still sponsored by Coke or Xbox? I like the IFL but someone up in the front office needs to take their head out of their ass and start getting paid for putting on shows. Ive been to a lot of IFL shows and they probably dont sell out half of their venues. Come on Guys wake up. IMO
