He was a top tier fighter until he moved to light weight and started thinking he was a boxer. The BJ fight was the beginning of the end .
Diego is one of the very few fighters that i didn't like at first but absolutely earned my respect and made me a fan.
That said, with rumors of Nick Diaz coming back, that would be one hell of a retirement match for him.
I wish him the best and I hope that he gets some help before it’s too late.

Diego is a legend of the sport, surefire HOFer and he deserves a lay up in his last fight. Nick Diaz is the perfect opponent for him.

Diego talks potential opponents for his retirement fight:
“I like Nate Diaz, I like Nick Diaz, I like [Donald] ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone,” Sanchez told MMA Fighting. “There’s a lot of guys out there that have the mileage. There are guys on the list that have had those UFC wars. That’s all I’m asking for. In my last four fights, three of those guys were 26 years old, and top of their country.
“Jake Matthews is probably the best welterweight out of Australia,” Sanchez added. “And if you want to joke yourself that Pereira ain’t the best welterweight out of Brazil, [except] maybe Gilbert Burns, c’mon man. That triangle of fights between Diaz, Sanchez and Parysian were all “must watch”. Those are the fights that pulled me back into MMA as a fan.

Must watch fights, imo. Taught me so much about contrast of styles.
His fight with Giblert was epic. I would opt to see that one again but I think Giblert is doing USADA time for peds. Is he fighting at 170? If so, I'm sure the UFC will give him a no name up and coming killer instead of someone in a similar position like Cowboy.
