but has anyone noticed how the UFC has become amateur hour? The entire news page on ufc.tv is dedicated to TUF guys. I understand that UFN is coming up this week, but even before that, the UFC was pushing a lot of b-level fighters. If you aren't a championship-calibre fighter or a TUF competitor, you get no press from the UFC. Where is Matt Lindland? Where is Ivan Salavery? Where is Nate Marquardt? And that's just a few of the names.
It just seems that, as the UFC grows, it seems to shrink at the same time.
I am a huge UFC supporter, but I can't help but to agree with this thread. My primary complaint is that all the TUF fighters get into the UFC, then they get to fight an endless barrage of tomato cans. Even guys who looked horrible on TUF are being helped into the UFC.
Yep, they pretty much use the TUF fighters that didn't win not because of their skill-sets, but because of the fact they are better known by the public then most of the skilled fighters.
They are still trying to grow the popularity of the UFC, so what better way to do it then with familiar faces.
It does work, because where as before two UFC newcomers would not draw that much attention on an undercard, now they can match newcomers up with TUF contestants and generally people are more interested. For example, I have never heard of Luigi Fiorvanti, but I won't miss his fight against the Catsmasher, Chris Leben. UFC is not the same, but it is definitely not worse off.
I really don`t care much about very many of those guys on TUF series.
They do seem to be pushing B level fighters on that show . For some reason the fights may be exciting but they dont hold my interest very long. Its got to be the people fighting.
There's too many B and C level fighters getting the chance to fight in the UFC, while there are plenty of good fighters out there that deserve a shot much more.
