I'm having issues with the pivot on a knife

This is for any of the knife guys here. With all my other knives I normally have a little bit of room to adjust the pivot and give a knife a better closing action. I have one where if I don't have the pivot all the way tightened down as tight as it can go, the blade jiggles around. I can't back the pivot screw out even the tiniest turn. It's not when the knife is locked open. It has solid lock up there. It's only after you unlock the knife and fold the blade far enough to clear the detent ball. I don't understand why it's doing it. If I hold the handle and shake the knife I can feel and hear the blade jiggling around on the pivot.

Is there a torx head on both sides of the pivot, or is there only one side to attach a driver to?

There is one on both. One side is a female pieces and the other is male that screws into it. It's free spinning so you have to have a torx in both sides to tight it

The reason I ask is some of my knives actually tighten from both sides individually. In other words the pivot screws in from both sides independently and one side can get tightened all the way but the pivot still be loose because the other side isn’t tight enough. Have you had the pivot screw all the way out?

Yes I took it out because the detent was weird. I took it apart to clean and oil it. Everything went fine and it went right back together. Now for some reason I have to have the pivot cranked all the way down to keep the blade from moving about in there. When I say tight I mean tight to the point I feel like I'm about to strip the torx screw. I've never kept one of my other knives that tight before. I adjust my other pivots WAY looser than this and they don't move around. I can't loosen this one the tiniest little turn. So tiny of a turn you can barely tell I even turned it. It goes from tight as shit to jiggling around in that small movement.

Kizer t1. I’ve never had a knife act like this to the pivot being loosened. At 100% tightness the action is stiff and no movement in the blade. At 99% tightness the blade is moving around. Thats how tiny of an adjustment. It’s either 100% or nothing.

Ive taken it apart and reassembled it three times today and I still can't figure out wtf is wrong with it. It still has vertical blade play if I don't have it ridiculously tight. Id understand if it was side to side play but I don't get why it has vertical play unless the bearings are cranked down tight against the blade.

Send it back for warranty.

This is part of why I don't make folders. Too much room for whatifs on the maker's end.

Ive always been fascinated by the guys who do custom folders. It seems like there is so much work that would go into getting all the tolerances exactly right.
