Following the fights on UFC on FX 4 this past weekend, ProMMAnow.com (www.prommanow.com) reporter Dan "The Wolfman" Theodore sat down with former UFC light heavyweight champion "Suga" Rashad Evans for an in-depth discussion about his MMA beginnings and his future with the UFC. They also recap UFC on FX 4, talk some 52 blocks, and Evans' desire to fight Anderson Silva should the opportunity arise.

Great stuff Dan. I had never heard him talk on 52.
Good job!
Memories!!
Noe, Matt, Julian...
Recently, Matt started teaching again downtown E.L. I don't know if he still is. Matt has always been very cool to me. I was lucky!
I trained with Rashad when he was getting ready to fight in the TUF finale. It was a very memorable roll!
Julian was teaching bootcamp conditioning class last I heard. He was Noe and Matt's first MMA teacher. He no longer teaches martial arts.

ttt great interview.
And then reality would set in.....
Poppa Puff - Evans would clown Anderson. He would outstrike him and slam him on his head for 5 rounds.
lol outstrike him? You for real?
huge difference between cutting to 174 and cutting to 185.
Rashad's career isnt over at 205 though. if he loses again then he can always drop and rejuvinate his career.
Didn't rashad turn down a fight against anderson at 205?
Evans has as good of chance of being silva as chael does.
"Anderson (Silva) is somebody I would love to fight because when it's all said and done, whether you win or lose, to compete against the best in the sport is really what it's all about. You know, if I can walk away from my career and say I competed against some of the best in the sport in my time and era, then I can wrap up and say I had a really great career. So if the opportunity comes, and that fight happens, yeah I would drop to 185 to fight."
I find this interesting, as Hashad is said to have turned down the chance to fight Anderson Silva at 205 twice. Once is confirmed by James Irvin in this thread:

The other was a Sherdog interview given by Anderson right when Vitor pulled out of Abu Dahbi, where he says Hashad turned down that fight.
I understand "short notice" etc....but Hashad's actions still contradict those words...
I'd like to see this.
I don't think that the cut would be easy for Evans, as he's usually in good shape at 205 and therefore would need to strip a fair amount of muscle to make weight. Evans would also be giving up a few inches in height and reach to Silva but on the other hand has a tremendous wrestling base which would be a huge asset.
Good fight for the fans but I can't see it going any other way than Silva's.
RandyDarsh - Didn't rashad turn down a fight against anderson at 205?![]()
Twice if we are to believe Anderson...but to be fair they were both short notice.
DanTheWolfman - Wow, I don't think that is how it works, but you wouldn't understand that. Incredibly dis-respectful post.
Rashad is a small LHW, smaller than me.
Anderson has been the best most skilled martial artist on the planet.
It's about wanting to fight the best, and of course fighters views change based on their age, how good their camps are going, if they weren't feeling comfortable at their old camp or short notice or injuries or family situations.............I threw him the question out of nowhere........what is he supposed to say?
Are you talking to me or Pride Rules with his modified "quote" of Hashad???
I didn't mean to come off disrespectful, I just saw a contradiction of what Rashad said, and what he has done. (assuming that it is true that he turned down 2 different chances to fight Anderson..)
I totally understand that they were both somewhat short notice (the Irvin fight one was only a few weeks), and realize that there are many factors involved. My apologies to you and to Rashad if my post came off wrong.
