I wear one and give zero fucks about what someone thinks about it. The tp hoarders are 100x worse, imo.
The reason many people are hoarding tp is because there's none to be found anywhere. I spent days basically sniping on Amazon until I had enough to feel comfortable.
Spent several hours a day entering a search for "toilet paper" and refreshing the page over and over until some became available, then hitting the One-Click order button. Took me over a week to end up with a small supply that should last me about 4 months, at which point it will either be available normally again or I'll have to do some more Amazon sniping.
Lol, me too, I'm finally getting some on the 25th. My butthole is ready.
How much qualifies you for hoarder status? Asking for a friend.
Having this debate with someone. They say it's not appropriate to wear an N95 mask in public because it shows a disregard for health care workers who have a shortage of them. Basically, only health care workers should have them and if you wear one in public people will perceive you as thinking you're better than anyone else and selfish to be using something only health care workers should have.
So, if you have an N95 and have to go to a grocery store, which are known to currently be giant petri dishes, it is inappropriate to wear an N95 mask and instead you should wear a makeshift mask or even a bandana, or should you wear it because it's more effective than a bandana and your health is important too?

I'd say anything over 30 rolls per person is excessive. People average a roll per person per week so estimating on the high side, 30 rolls should last a person at least 4 months.
That said, aside from hoarders, there's another very real reason for the current shortage. Because everyone is stuck at home, a lot of people who would normally shit at work are now having to shit at home. The commercial toilet paper used in most offices is completely different than the consumer grade paper sold retail to regular consumers so because of that, all the consumer grade paper is now in higher demand because people really are using a lot more of it.

Yeah, I read an article 2 or 3 weeks ago saying exactly what you’re saying about the commercial vs. consumer grade and that there is a legitimate shortage of consumer grade now. Makes sense.
I will have to do the math on my very modest, very responsible…mountain of toilet paper.
I don't have a problem with someone having 1 or 2 n95 masks per household. For a normal person using them to go to the grocery store, it's perfectly fine to reuse them after a period of time, for example you can wear one to the store, and then leave it on a shelf for a week before wearing it again. It's not getting saturated like it might with a nurse wearing one for a 12hr shift full of close contact with sick people. If you're extra paranoid you can also wear one with a bandana or homemade cloth mask over it so you can wash the bandana and reduce potential contamination of the exterior of the n95.
The problem is people using them one time and throwing them out or having a lot of them. People were buying boxes of 10-20, that is what's bad. Especially when you see morons wearing them wrong and completely wasting them.

But, that's how they are sold. I don't think you can buy just ONE mask. They are sold in packs. The ones I bought came in packs of 10.
What's sickening is that they used to sell for 30 to 50 cents a piece. Now price gougers are selling them for $3 to $7 a piece.
Not sure how those people aren't in jail yet. Most states have laws against that.

The paint store I got mine at sold the 3M masks only in boxes of 10.
And I offered 9 of the 10 masks I bought to a respiratory therapist I know that is treating covid patients. She said the hospital had more than enough masks and didn't need mine.

I keep hearing this everywhere. Is that one hospital in NYC the only place that doesn't have enough masks? I've also seen other news reports from a couple of other hospitals where they interview the staff and they all say they don't have enough masks and are being made to either make one last an entire week or go without.
My wife who is a nurse got me n95 masks from a pharmaceutical supply that only sells to healthcare workers. Anybody has a problem with that can lick my ass
The recommendation to wear a mask for public health is not to protect the individual wearing the mask but to protect others from your droplets.
So wearing an n95 with the valve in it lets those droplets out the valve defeating the "public health" point of wearing a mask but does however protect the individual.
I guess this could be a dick move? I build/repair guitars and have a few laying around. Offered the unused few to a er nurse friend in New Orleans said hospital had them covered.
I have worn the 1 to the store a couple times. Caught side eye from couple wearing homemade masks.

They also come in smaller numbers. But point is donate the extra. If all you could get was a box of 20, take out 2 and give the other 18 to your local hospital or fire department.

I had a similar problem trying to donate to a friend who works at a hosptial, she didnt want them because she wasnt allowed to wear a mask that she supplied herself. Local fire department has a lot less administrative bullshit to deal with, you can try them. My local department was even taking donations of homemade masks, so n95s are a no brainer for them to accept.
As an amateur quasi-prepper I bought a few N95 and N100 masks years ago. No way I’m not using them if I feel like it now. This is why I bought them. If I had a shitload then I would donate some to the nearest hospital but I only have a few.
