FORT WORTH — A 28-year-old man accused of performing oral sex on a drunken cellmate in the Fort Worth city jail last month has been indicted on a sexual assault charge.
William Brady Watson, 28, of The Colony, was indicted Tuesday, court records show.
Watson and the 23-year-old victim had both been arrested on suspicion of public intoxication, said Sgt. Kelly Peel, a police spokesman.
Surveillance cameras in the downtown city jail at 350 W. Belknap Street recorded the assault shortly before 1 a.m. June 11, according to a police report. The indictment states that the victim did not consent to the sexual activity and was not aware that it was occurring.
Jailers monitoring the surveillance cameras reported the assault, Peel said. The jailers are employed by the Mansfield Law Enforcement Center, which has a contract with Fort Worth to run the city jail.
People arrested on suspicion of public intoxication in Fort Worth are kept in the city jail for at least four hours before being released after a court date is set.
Watson remains free on $10,000 bail, court records show.
