Does anyone have any recommendations for an IM solution that is used internally only?
I've been reading about a few, but figured I'd try and get some info here.
I appreciate any help or info.
Jabber/XMPP on the server. I like Pidgin on the clients.
More Jabber clients at http://www.jabber.org/clients
Thanks for the reply... is this as simple as installing and basic setup? I'm not really technical so I just want to make sure it's feasible for me :)Let me know if you have any tips on getting it setup and running. Thanks for the reply.
*** Also... I see there are many different server options for Jabber... which one do you use/recommend?
If you're going to install it on a Windows server, I recommend Openfire (http://www.igniterealtime.org/downloads/index.jsp)
The install is pretty self-explanatory. If you don't plan on supporting a large number of users, you can use Openfire's embedded database instead of an external one and ignore the LDAP options.
Looks like we are going to have approx. 30 clients.
Would this be a good case to use the embedded database?
I think we are going to install this later today or tomorrow if time permits.
say goodbye to your production
NHBDaddy... can you elaborate a bit?
Do you mean productivity as in people are going to be screwing around wasting time with IM or did you mean something else?
