J Cruz is an amazing grappler/instructor. Used to be in tons of tournaments and his name was always in the finals. He's doing some great stuff at Gracie Ft Lee. Not enough people know how good he really is. 
Used to armlock the crap out of me when we rolled back in the day.
He RNC'ed Mark Hughes at tourney.
2 questions, though
1) Why'd he stop competing?
2) Why'd he grow his hair out.

He teaches at Renzo Gracie Woodland Park in northern New Jersey. He is exactly as he sounds. Great Guy and great instructor.

Thanks man, it was a ton of fun to do the interview! I plan on making more of these with other instructors from the area.
He's not at AMA anymore? What happened with that place? Seems like everybody left.
All I will say is that most of the higher level students or regulars that had been at AMA for any real period of time are with Jamie in Woodland Park. There is still a great instructor at AMA in Jonathan Helwig who is one of Jamie's black belts as well as two other Jamie black belts so its not like you can't get good instruction there still.
