Iole: RJJ considering MMA fight

I will have NO respect whatsoever for Dana if they pull this shit again especially with a guy like Jones who shouldn't be fighting anymore.

Roy Jones today, yesterday or tomorrow will/would/could fuck Anderson's day up in a boxing match. Anyone who thinks otherwise is silly.

Now if it was a prime RJJ it'd be a close boxing fight. I'd still give the edge to Silva tho. Phone Post

You Don't Know Shit About Boxing.

PRIME ROY JONES JR. WOULD SPARK THE FUCK OUTTA ANDERSON SILVA.

Easy Work. Phone Post

I would like to see Cintron come over , RJJ gets subbed quickly IMO. Phone Post 3.0

Anderson will not take him down. This isn't randy vs toney. Anderson would bring his a game with stand up. This has the potential to have a pride era feel to it during the fight. Phone Post 3.0

Take it you never got to watch RJJ in his prime? Phone Post

has anderson ever shot for a takedown?
i cant recall?
if so which fight was it?

I'm sure there would be an agreement to keep it striking. Hands only even. An mma fight just wouldn't be fair. Phone Post 3.0

Im not saying that Anderson's ground game is light-years ahead of RJJ, i'm saying the RJJ would have to go plaid to catch up to him

I'm curious to get people's take on RJJ's kick defense. I feel like that would be as detrimental as no tdd. If he's not familiar with being kicked at Andy will STARCH RJJ with kicks in an mma fight, even accidently. Also, I'm going to assume hilarious trolling by PatrickVilone. But seriously, Anderson throws great kicks even when he's screwing around with precision accuracy.

I would love to see an MMA fight but think RJJ needs a solid 6-10 months MMA training (kickboxing, wrestling, bjj) to see what happens. I would pay to see the boxing match which favors RJJ but Silva has a chance, I think RJJ is a HUGE dog in an MMA fight without training, standup or ground.

Awesome hope it happens Phone Post

I saw RJJ in Walmart awhile back and asked him if he is considering MMA, he just smiled and said "I dont know.....I dont know, I have been thinking about it"

No amount of time will help RJJ with MMA.

Is this is a MMA or MT fight Andy wins hands down.

If this is boxing match in a cage with 5 minute rounds ", which i think it would be, I don't know who would take it.

9/10 put of ten I'd pick the boxer, but this is Silva...who know what he's capable of... Phone Post 3.0

You're kind of missing the point with your last sentence.

It should say, 9/10 I'd pick the boxer, but Jesus Christ RJJ is a broken shell of a fighter...

If you've seen RJJ box when he was young, you'd know he'd shit wreck AS without even breaking a sweat. Obviously Silva would destroy him if you suddenly allowed clinch, knees, kicks and elbows or if this was an MMA fight, but if AS' videos practicing boxing or his old pro fight are any indication, he'd get demolished.

I hate this fight, RJJ is so godamn old this proves nothing, similar to the Toney fight, so AS can't really gain anything from winning. If he loses it'll just be damn embarassing.

The age gap isn't what matters particularly, but how past his prime RJJ is. AS barely looks slowed down and if anything, his career has had another resurgence since he hit 35, RJJ has just been getting uglier and uglier in fights :/

People who don't watch both sports really can't understand the disparity in skill level. It's even worse than the difference between prime kickboxers and MMA kickboxing because there's so much money and global interest in boxing.

Not to mention it's a whole other ball game with the larger gloves. One of the reason we see so many kickboxers have a hard time when they cross over is the difficulty in striking defense w/o big gloves. That's an even huger difference with boxing where you can have a Toney or Mayweather who use crab defense and counter primarily -- not that that's RJJ's style, he was always a athletic wonder like AS, but still.

For anyone who wants to see how fucked up RJJ was in his prime, watch his old fight against James Toney lol

Funniest fight ever!! RJJ just straight clowns a top p4p-ranked champion, forget which belt, who was undefeated in around 50 fights IIRC, and taunts, dances and just plain shit wrecks him. Toney looks like he's seriously about to cry at one point XD

These are valid points but I don't care. I'd still pay to see the fight. Andy is a showman and can make any fight entertaining. God I wish there were more fighters like him. I have high hopes for Erick Silva. Phone Post 3.0

That's true, and actually I'm usually all for freak show fights if they're the right flavor. I just found Toney Couture boring as hell, but AS would probably try to outstrike him instead of a straight up low TD which could be fun.

I think I'm just also a bit butthurt over the matchup cus I was a huge fan of RJJ, and this reeks of washed up money grab lol
