Iran Celebrates; Saudi Silent; Libya Mourns Saddam's Execution

By Marc Wolfensberger and Abdulla Fardan

Dec. 30 (Bloomberg) -- Iran and Kuwait, both attacked by Saddam Hussein, welcomed his execution today, while Libya mourned his death, and the Arab leaders of Egypt, Syria and Saudi Arabia remained mum on the hanging of a former colleague.

The Iraqi people are the victorious ones,'' Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Hamid Reza Asefi told the Islamic Republic News Agency, while expressing regrets that his trial only focused on one of his crimes and not the one million killed during the Iran-Iraq War of 1980-88. Libya declared 3- days of mourning and called Hussein aprisoner-of-war.''

Reagan ruled. He woulda taken care of Saddam as well.

yup good ol' ronnie

Alliances change.

I suppose the US looked silly after WWII for teaming with Uncle Joe?

Not a good analogy. The US didn't build up Uncle Joe only to later turn on him.

I suppose the US looked silly after WWII for teaming with Uncle Joe?

yes actually it did

support Stalin the worst mass murder in the history of the world?

Your idiocy never ceases to amaze.

"Your idiocy never ceases to amaze"

It has limits

"yes actually it did

support Stalin the worst mass murder in the history of the world?"

First of all LMAO @ even the IDEA of you giving a F@#$ about the people Stalin killed. Your game is politics and idealogy. You have shown time and again on here that civilians dying means nothing unless it is convenient for the side you picked.

Secondly the US teamed with Russia to take out Germany and Japan. While Russia's leadership sucked, Japan and Germany were invading and committing horrendous human rights violations on other oountries. Japan especially, needed its ass straightened out.

The US NEVER condoned what Stalin did or endorsed him as leader but allied to take out a worse threat to American security and worldwide stability.

The alliance with Russia was in the United Sates' best interest which is always a huge factor, as it should be.

Eventually we bled them try in the cold war.

Stalin did kill about 20 million people as opposed to Hitlers 12 million.

HELWIG is so fucking correct that it's scary.

Sadly, his extremely valid points will be lost on hubris who is has succumbed to the 'if America did it, it must be bad' ideology.

RIP to all those murdered by Stalin the worst tyrant the world has ever known

Just as I thought.  Pity.

the propaganda taught in the USA and UK continues to this day

lol@hubris

"What do expect from a Canadian? "

Only an idiot would make such a generalization. A real idiot.

If stalin was alive today, hubris would be against removing him and want to put sanctions on him, hubris considers genocide merely causing problems

lol @ souljacker who knows nothing

he is now proposing starting a global nuclear war against the Soviet Union just to remove Stalin

wow the fantasy world you live in

wow, thats a good one hubris, you here all week
