Is Braza Dead?

I heard some interesting news today  and wanted to see if anyone had some more info.

Apparently one of the top BJJ teams broke up and no longer exist. Anyone know any details about what happened to them?

Heck no it ain't dead --just goin' through some changes.

Trust me, "Shen's Brasa" is alive and well!

(I bought the name on Ebay).

travenbjj gets upset about this kinda stuff

what the hell is going on?

Just say no to drama that is none of our business.

Congrats to both Alliance and Brasa on another great showing at this year's Mundials.

Oh, but it is travenbjj's business. IMO, he has a right to be sensitive about this. I would be if I was him.

 FYI

Brasa is pretty spread out at this point with the Leozinho in LA, Comprido in Chicago, Drysdale in Vegas, Galvao bouncing back and forth from the US to Brasil, Traven in Atlanta, Felipe Costa traveling a good bit, and Ricardinho and the group still in Brasil (in both Rio and SP).

It is inevitable when things spread too thin that probablems will pop up or new arrangements will be made to adjust to the situation. Also, when a team gets that strong and the members start getting new opportunities things have to change. It is the nature of the sport and a natural evolution. This is complicated even more by many teams dividing between the guys training strictly for BJJ cometitions and the guys getting more into mma. Whether the team splits or not is anyones guess but with a crew that talented they will all land on their feet.

Regardless of what is said or what comes out in the future, Brasa did have one of the top teams in BJJ!I remember last year at Mundials looking at the Podium for the Team awards. 1st Place was Gracie Barra. Second place was Alliance and third was Brasa. Jacare and Fabio were there accpeting on Alliance's behalf. Demian and Leozinho were there accepting for Brasa. Could you imagine if the teams came back together? WOW!

And it all came possible thanx to one man....Romero Jacare!

The team formerly known as Brasa has some of the best instructors in the business like the Vieira Brothers, Demian, Galvao etc...so im sure they will be successfull in whatever they do in the future!

they should follow this motto:

"organized like a team, fighting like a family, 'cuz money ain't a thing."

pretty much leo is doing his own thing...that is the only big news....no giant team split, no hollywood style fighting or arguing.... that is about the extent of it.

I couldnt agree more.......a true BJJ powerhouse which combined would by FAR be the strongest bjj team in the world.

Is Jacare still part of the Brasa thing? I know he was when they original Master/Alliance split happened.

Haha. I love the translation. I wasted 10 seconds reading it and then you had it all summed up in 3 words. Funny shit.

This translates to "MY NAME IS DEMIAN MAIA, AND I LIKE TO PARTY."....no seriously I dont know what was said here other than at the bottom of the article he said he is going to train with whoever he wants. If he wants to train with Telles, who hes good friends with, he will, if he wants to train with Leozinho, he will and if he wants to train with Fabio Gurgel again, he will as he has a great relationship with him.

This Highlight is awesome by the way. I think Demian is one of the most underated BJJ/MMA Competitors in the biz. He won the Mundials, Copa do Mundo and is undefeated in MMA. There should be as much hype about Demian that there is about Ronaldo Jacare or Marcelo. Very nice person and super technical fighter! Very smart at marketing by the way too! When he fought in Montreal at UFC, nobody knew who he was really. Except me and my friends who were chearing. After his victory he said "IN Brazil. we dont have Hockey, but here in Canada, I now have a team" as he pulled up a Montreal Canadians Jersey!

I can recap it for you Baleia, and others. My Port. isn't great but I think I have most of it.

Demian is in Vegas w/ Rafael Alejarra for UFC 87. He continues to rep Brasa, as does Drysdale who is in the US (Vegas) with him to help him get ready for his fight. He was one of the founders of Brasa w/ Leozinho, Costello Branco, Rodrigo Comprido, Jamelao, Felipe Costa, amoung other black belts. He will be helping out the team but doesn't have time to do the administrative part of it because he is totally focused on mma.

He isn't surprised Leozinho left. His friend was influenced to make the decision. Leozinho already had his own ideas (direction) but would have probably stayed except his brother (Ricardinho) had already wanted to leave for some time as well as some others he won't name. It was a tough year but he remains friends w/ everyone as he has with all past training partners.

Brasa is a BJJ team and he is focused on mma and has trained with his friend Telles, which Leozinho didn't like. But they are all from Alliance, from Jacare, Alexandre Paiva, and Fabio Gurgel. Later they formed Master Team and later Brasa (without Terere and Telles). The old team is still his friends. If he wants to train with Telles then that is what he wants to do and he will go. If he wants to train with Leozinho, he'll go and even Fabio Gurgel with whom he has an excellent relationship.

How could you mention Alliance monsters without mentioning Cobrinha and Bill Cooper (yes, Paragon, but technically Alliance).
