He's the LW champ even though he's one of the smallest fighters in the division. He's also beaten BJ (arguably top 3 all time PFP) twice.
Still. He's rarely on any current top five PFP lists. Thoughts?
The guy is like a real life Rocky. Tough as hell and just keeps bringing it when he should be done.
Isn't he on most of the p4p lists?
Saying Bj is top 3 p4p all time is borderline ridiculous. Edgar also just squeaked a draw out with maynard. If he completely dominated maynard maybe people would be talking about him more. He needs a few more decisive wins before hes even in the discussion.

Agreed on BJ top 3. I was a little overzealous there. I don't think placing BJ in the small group after Fedor, Silva, and GSP is outrageous though. And Edgar is smaller than him and beat him twice. Maynard is also HUGE at LW. I'd put Edgar at three currently PFP.
dfw jr - yes
Honored. Met you once in Vegas for BJ/GSP 1. One of the best weekends of my life. Thanks for that.
I think if he gets by Maynard and dispatches a few of the great challengers lined up, he will do a lot to raise his status in the p4p rankings. As it is his record and legacy are hampered with rematches. That'll pass eventually though. No rush, give him a year or two. If he keeps winning his status and level of respect will even out.
dfw jr - yes
Hell yeah Dana way to go
No he is not overlooked.
He really only beat BJ the second time, none of his big victories are decisive or exciting.
Again this is just like my opinion dude but I think finishing fights is important to be considered a P4P great.
Again I dont mean to disrespect the guy, he is tough and hard working and doing the best he can.
But i feel like he split the BJ fights 1-1.
Even if he beats grey next week he is still 1-1-1 with Maynard. He would have to finish Grey in convincing fashion for me to really give him a bump on the P4p list.
(Again this is all just my fucking opinion, and clearly up for debate.)

I dont consider his tyson victory to be a "BIG" Victory, sherk maybe...
Those fights did not suck though i agree with your point.

Even if you're right and he beat BJ once, he still beat BJ Penn. The same BJ who went up in weight and beat Hughes twice and arguably beat GSP in their first fight.
With all due respect, I also disagree that his fights are not exciting. Agreed on the finishes though. I'm not a fighter but unless you're Royce Gracie and this is 1993, it's gotta be damn hard to finish fights when your opponent is coming in with 20 pounds on you.
gotta love the random post by dfw.
Makes me wonder just how much he does lurk ^^^^^^
Now?
Yeah I think there was questions about him since his last defense was a draw.
but now that he has 2 decisive title defense's he has to move into the top 5 pfp list.
top 5 pfp of current fighters not all time list.
1. andy
2. gsp
3. jbj
4. cain velasquez or the reem
5. frankie edgar.

I'd prob put Aldo before Cain right now and Frankie before Aldo and JBJ.
