For those who don't know, at the height of the Monday Night Wrestling wars, Tony Schavoine, WCW announcer, would proclaim that every PPV match or Nitro main event was
"the biggest match in the history of our sport"
After a while it became one of the biggest and longest running jokes among the IWC.
Is Mike Goldberg's constant proclamation of every fight being "biggest rematch in UFC history", "most anticipated fight in UFC history", etc, etc, quickly approaching the same running joke status, and thus taking AWAY from the event they are promoting?
It's just another Goldberg-ism that goes in one ear and out the other for me.
I thought the exact same thing last night.
great thread
during the "nwo takeover" days of wcw, i used to love it when schiavone would dramatically announce defections such as, "sting . . . has just turned his back . . . on the wcw!"
wouldn't it be great if lesnar led a revolt against zuffa and organized an in-house competitive heel organization? who would join him?
and goldberg would say, "sugar rashad evans . . . has just turned his back . . . on the ufc!"
Goldberg says what he wants to say, needs to say, is prepared to say ... no matter what is ACTUALLY happening in the cage.
Sick of it.
Thankfully, Rogan shoots straight.
Tony Schavonie is a much better commentator than Goldberg.
"Goldberg says what he wants to say, needs to say, is prepared to say ... no matter what is ACTUALLY happening in the cage.Sick of it Thankfully, Rogan shoots straight." Yeah he could be more in-sync with the blow-by-blow , but it's not a very big deal to me as I've gotten used to it ,for the most part, after so much time.

I can just picture Lashley coming out with a chair cracking Mir in the back when he has a leg lock on Brock and spray painting WWE on his back.
