Is it p4p the best matchup ever?

Silva/Henderson

A friend and I were discussing this fight. When is the last time you saw two guys fight who were this good and on top of their game in their careers.

He said Hughes/GSP, but I informed the noob that Hughes was far from his prime in the last two fights with GSP.

Franklin/Silva I thought was going to be great, but we all know how that turned out.

Thoughts? Who do you think takes this one?

Not enough talk on the forum about on paper possibly the best fight you will ever see.

Fedor Randy IMO.....but yeah Silva vs Hendo is badass too

I thought Henderson vs. Rampage was up there.

This is about the equivalent for 185, no?

Lets hope this one isn't the snooze fest that Hendo/Rampage was.

"Lets hope this one isn't the snooze fest that Hendo/Rampage was. "

Crazy that you say that...I loved that fight. Two top competitors battling it out in a title fight going all 5 rounds, and very close rounds at that.

Hughes was in his prime for the last 2 GSP fights. Right before the 2nd GSP fight, Hughes had just TKOed BJ Penn at UFC 63 and destroyed Royce Gracie at UFC 60. After the 2nd GSP fight, Hughes dominated Lytle at UFC 68 for 3 rounds, and then had the TUF season to film. Right now, that's the top rivalry we've seen and 2 best WWs ever.

Silva-Henderson should be great, and right up there on that best ever list.

It's way up there. Other great ones;

Liddell vs. Couture #2

Minotauro vs Fedor

Fedor vs Cro Cop

ANY Pride tournament there ever was...

the first Henderson vs Bustamonte matchup was up there- Henderson KOd busta in less than a minute though - didn't live up to the hype

it's close to the top, styles make fights and I think Anderson's technicality in the striking department may give Dan problems, much like Misaki did in their pride matchup, but if Dan comes in shape and is aggressive with takedowns he may be able to grind out a decision.

Kerr v Igor 1

Coleman v. Igor

-jk

Fedor vs. Mirko without a doubt.

How wasnt Kerr/Igor 1 a top level fight at the time?

This is a truly great fight because it really can end in so many different ways by either guy. Although Anderson is obviously the favorite, I don't think anyone who knows the sport could count Dan out. Actually I think he has a much better chance of taking it than many are giving him credit for.

That being said, I think Anderson will land some great strikes and win it by KO/TKO earky in the third round.

You'd also be hard pressed to compete with a number of the matchups Pride's lightweight tournament a few years back, Gomi vs. Kawajiri and a field that included Mach, Pulver, Yves Edwards and Joachim Hansen is hard to beat

I think this matchup could crown THE fighter of this generation.

Sherk vs. BJ is better, IMO.

But this is right up there.

I'd say Randy vs. Fedor, but I just think Randy should fight Nog in order to have the right to fight Fedor.

hughes/bj/gsp combos up there, Chuck/rampage/vanderlei... but with Dan coming off amazing 205 run, yes!

"the first Henderson vs Bustamonte matchup was up there- Henderson KOd busta in less than a minute though"

Hendo is being featured on Jim Rome is burning which is on now; Dan's segment is coming up..
