Many still feel Mir has a final run at the HW title left in him.
Stylistically, Lesnar, Carwin, Cain were very difficult opponents for him.
The present Mir could be argued to match up very well with JDS. He'd certainly be the underdog, but Mir dragging him to the ground and getting a submission is perfectly within the realm of possibility.
Winner of Brock/Reem gets first crack. So Mir needs another fight before then.

I think JDS is a nightmare matchup for Mir, since Mir couldn't even takedown Mirko. Not only is JDS a pain to take down, he's been impossible to keep down. The fight plays out on the feet, where Mir doesn't like getting hit very much at all.

Don't see Mir posing any problems to JDS whatsoever though. Unfortunately relevance in the HW division has passed him by now, he is still a dangerous test for up and coming fighters but he has had his last shot at the title.
I could see a low but realistic shot of Mir pulling off a repeat of the Hardonk fight.
Mir vs Werdum (if they get past their opponents would be good). Or mir vs barnett (scrap the sf tourney).
Mir doesnt have a hope in hell. JDS, Cain, Brock and Carwin are just way ahead of him.
I second the Mir vs Barnett fight, I've been wanting that fight for years. And reasonably, if they make it past Nog and DC respectively, it would make for a good match to make in the UFC as a way to decide who gets a crack at the title. By then, Brock/Overeem will have gotten their shot.

Frank Mir is the man. He gets so much hatred and it's uncalled for. He nearly could have died when he got in that motorcycle accident, and to come back from not even being able to walk, to being the HW champion AGAIN. The first man ever to finish Minotauro Nogueira, he looked great against Nelson (about the same as JDS looked) and Mir also KTFO'd Mirko Crocop. Give the man the respect he deserves whether you like him or not.

Old and played out. The guy has been in fantastic shape since the first Nog fight. He should get the next shot after Overeem/Brock if he beats Nog again.
Im gonna go with F. Santos Mir if he gets a shot at Hunior.
Seems like one of those things where experience can cause an upset.
I don't see Mir hanging with any of the top 5 at this point.
If he couldn't take Mirko down, and he couldn't, then he would surely get demolished in short order by Junior, who hits a lot harder than Brandon Vera I might add
Anything can happen but Mir has got some work to do to get near JDS, and I'm rooting for Big Nog to strike down upon him with great vengeance and furious anger next month
