Is Stipe Miocic a joke or is he the real deal?

Guys

I can tell you first hand that Stipe is a monster! 6-4, 240 and he moves like a middle weight. I know a lot of people my have / doubts because he doesn't have any big names on his record but he has also t(ko) everyone he has faced very early in the fight. I know its much to early to say he will be top 10 within the next 12-18 months but.... He will be top 10 on the next 12-18 months. In the gym he probably has faster hands that any mma fighter stepping into Strongstyle, thats to include Brian Rogers, and Chris Lozano. He also went to the nationals in D1.

I say all of this because I truly fell bad for Beltran because he is a very nice guy and super tough. But the only thing he has coming tonight is a school yard beating no disrespect intended. I can't wait to see this fight, make my word Miocic is the real deal! Phone Post

Can't wait for this fight. FOTN potential.

For sure, I think Stipe make a statement by being the first guy to finsh Beltran with a brutal ko. Beltran is the perfect guy for Stipe, he is gonna eat two shot to try to get off one, he has a great chin and he has heart, should be a crazy fight while it last Phone Post

I'm guna pick Beltran guy is a warrior Phone Post

Stipe is legit. Top ten for sure within a year IMO Phone Post

Idk all have to see his performance tonight before i can make any judgment. Did anybody notice he looked kinda small at the weighins. Phone Post

Beltran is impossible to stop so if Stipe finsishes him he's certainly for real.

Jake Obrien was also a golden gloves champ and high level amateur wrestler... he also tko'ed all of his first 6 opponents in the first round when he was fighting in the local scene.  He amounted to nothing in the UFC.

The biggest problem I have with stipe is that he uses his wrestling defensively to keep the fight on the feet... Sprawl and brawl is obsolete.  You have to use your wrestling offensivelly to make your striking that much more effective like GSP instead of using it like Koscheck.

I wouldn't go so far as to call him a joke, overrated may be a better term. Only time will tell. Phone Post

Let the man have his first ufc fight then if he wins talk hype. Phone Post

Ttt Phone Post

the problem with mma fan culture...it's either the real deal or a complete joke

 why not somewhere in between?

now if he loses everyone will be calling him a joke

Stipe is 6ft 4 and a solid 240, its no way he is making 205 Phone Post

O'Brien did just fine until they put him up against a murderer's row of opposition....08 Arlvoski(ie not a can yet), Cain Velasquez, and Jon Jones. And then Mousasi further down the line.

O'Brien has only lost to guys who were champs, or guys who would become champs. That's not to shabby.

From the pics I saw, stipe towered over Beltran at weigh ins.... Phone Post

First thing I noticed on his record:

Win Gregory Maynard TKO (Punches) NAAFS - Night of Champions 2010 12/4/2010 2 1:43

Win Jeremy Holm KO (Punches) NAAFS - Rock N Rumble 4 8/28/2010 1 1:36

I thought "WTF HE FOUGHT MAYNARD AND HORN?" But then I looked closer. He is a tough dude. Beltran's a great test for any new heavy cuz Joey brings it.

Wow, what planet have you been living on? Because I see far, far more standup fighters sprawling with success these days than at any other point in MMA's history.

Anyway... all this putting Miocic under the microscope is making me nervous. You bastards are gonna jinx it!

too much hype can be a dangerous thing, especially with mma fans.

Definitely not a "joke".

What is a joke is that Nam Phan faces Leonard Garcia on PPV, while Stipe's fight may not be televised.

Beltran has another good guy to test just how tough he is (tougher than Hell, obviously) tonight.

He doesn't look like anything special, no head movement and not the best punching tech. Ill take beltran in this one.
