Is viewing a stream actually illegal?

Is viewing what is streamed actually illegal or is only if you are the one hosting it?

Not looking for legal advice, just looking to have a conversation. My buddy sent me this:

Truthfully altho the PPV prices are out of control, I don’t stream. I used to buy everycard. Now its 2-3 a year.
Honestly, not really missing much either

The person creating the stream is breaking the law. You poor’s watching the streams are not breaking the law

Technically we aren’t poor. We are + 1200ish a year compared to you

I couldn’t be bothered staying up all night to watch a live stream, so I just download. I think Jon Anik says that’s illegal. He also said he’d fight like hell to get Jessica Andrade into the UFC HoF and that’s not happened so whatever.

Downloading is illegal since you’re recording and saving a copy.

Oh my, I better stop then

I mean, I basically pay what you do for your 2.5 cards/year but I get them all. And it’s straight through UFC.

So there is that.

Yeah downloading is illegal. If you do that, use a VPN or your internet provider will eventually catch you.

Through Fightpass only I believe.

Would help if I could but I don’t think it’s a possibility in the US with ESPN going on sadly.

We’ve already been over this, THOROUGHLY lol

I don’t even think that Joe Hand Promotions fucks around anymore for commercial viewing.
