Israel trip

Setting in atlanta waiting for a conecting flight to Israel. Super excited & wanted to share.

1- be safe

2- use your head, seriously.

3- understand Israeli culture varies like US culture but their are commonalities- among them is a directness and volume in speaking many westerners find rude

4- avoid the 'ultra orthodox' and their mitzva mobiles.

5- Find some nice army girls off duty at the beach ;)

mitzva mobiles?.......lol! what's that all about?

Thanks for the advice but the wife frowns on me hunting hotties. Today we visited Caesarea, mt carmel & the fortress of megiddo (areas of great historical & prophetic significance). Sabbot has started (no bus no plane!!!). On Sunday we begin exploring the golan. If anyone would like to see pics let me know (roninbt@yahoo.com).

ya, many services shut down and shabbat.

Toelocku- because many secular Jews do not say morning prayers, orthodox members go around hunting for secular Jews and get them to say prayers.

Wine tasting at the golan heights winery. Too bad I don't like wine.

They aren't overly aggressive or anything. You can politely say no and they will leave you alone.

I hope your trip went well!

The trip was amazing with the best saved for last (4 days in Jerusalem). Our first night in town we could not sleep so we walked to the Western Wall. It was midnight on Shabbat by the time we arrived. I'm not sure how to explain the experience. Regardless of what side of the theological fence you fall this is a powerful place.
Second to Jerusalem was Masada (an incredible & tragic story).
If you worship the God of Abraham, Isaac & Jacob then you have to make this pilgrimage at least once. We are already planning our next visit.

just out of curiosity- why are Christians interested in Massada? The events there had huge political and religious implications for Jews, but by that time Christianity was already a semi-cohesive seperate religion.
