Jackson: Success breeds criticism

I like Greg Jackson and I'm a fan of GSP.

Wasa-B - Only in MMA are the technicians and strategists not appreciated, they are hated on.

In boxing, Floyd is considered a master and even haters of his persona respect and appreciate the skill he displays in the ring.

In kickboxing, Giorgio Petrosyan is the same thing.

In BJJ, Garcia....fagedaboutit.

In Judo, obviously.

In MMA, you try to be technical....watch the fck out.

Subs and KO strikes don't involve technique? Setting up a finish doesn't involve strategy? You make it sound like finishing a fight is somehow cheap or sloppy. Phone Post

Wasa-B well said!

Holy different planets.

THP - Yet hordes of educated, hardcore music fans find Rihanna a phenomenal "artist" to listen to.

1) not really

2) who cares?

A fighter can be phenomenally technical without turning a fight into a point scoring contest. It's not about technique, it's about the will to finish.

No, really. "In MMA, you try to be technical, watch out"

I've never see anyone complain that a sub was too complex or a kick KO was too fancy. Don't conflate technicality with a style the crowd don't enjoy. Not committing to finishing techniques is complete understandable given the risks involved but it isn't something people have to enjoy watching. Phone Post
