jacobs ladder (cardio machine)

Can anyone tell me anything about this equipment? My gym just got one and it looks like it would be an awesome way to get my cardio in. Anyone ever use one and if so , is it any good?

Best cardio machine in the gym. 5 minutes on that and you will feel it! It's better than running on a treadmill or riding a stationary bike.

Sweet. The thing looks intimidating! I'm going to give it a shot in about an hour. Been watching some youtube vids and it seems like many people are saying what you are. I can't wait to try this thing out.

I wish my gym had one of those

Greg Jackson says it's the best cardio equipment out there. The airdyne and any C2 machine has to be close to that claim. Phone Post 3.0

Searched for it, noticed all the ads had half-naked chicks sticking their asses into the camera.

I don't dislike that image, but sex sure sells. Makes me wonder how effective the machine really is if they have to do this.

i always thought jacobs ladder was when the guy pierced his penis all the way along the shaft Phone Post

I used one at AKA my first day there, 2 and a half minutes and I couldn't believe how exhausting it was. I've always thought a stair master was a fantastic cardio workout too though Phone Post 3.0

Way more fun than a treadmill

Ok. Just got back from my first time using the JL. OMG...What a workout. I got a better sweat in 5 minutes that 20 on all other cardio machine. Plus all my muscles feel worked rather than my joints like usual. No joint soreness whatsoever. So basically I did 5 minutes straight, which was all I could take, then about 30 second to 2 minutes stretching and waling off the soreness in my quads and calfs. My quads and calfs feel thicker, more solid and tighter than ever from that 20 minute beating. i am going to use this thing 3-4x per week it is awesome.

I feel like I went rock climbing...back, chest, bi's legs abs...everything feels worked out. I'm so glad my gym finally did something right. Now hopefully, everyone else stays intimidated of it so I can always use it when I'm there

You'll feel it tomorrow in your calves and ass. Great machine. 5 mins is good for a first time. It's an asskicker Phone Post 3.0

I hate that machine. It's hell on earth. You don't need long on it to get completely burned.

I do 30 minutes on shoulder and squat days, not that difficult.

It's going to take me a while to get up to 30 minutes straight. Right now it's just 5 minutes...break...then another 5 but 20 min in total. my goal is 30 minutes straight. i gather someone who can do that is in excellent shape, that's a good goal to strive for.... I feel very energize and strong still. i may have to climb on the mrs...when whe gets back from work tonight.

jude099 - is this the same as a versaclimber? Phone Post 3.0

No. The ladder is actually a belt of small rungs that you will do an inclined "bear walk" on.  Like the Versa climber however, it is nice that it uses both hands and feet.

It's a great machine but IMHO, not as good as a Versaclimber because it does not have adjustable resistance (as far as I know) and therefore cannot be used to simulate high resistence intervals.

Good description. It does resemble the "bear walks" that we used to do as a warm up in my bjj class. Although it doesn't have resistance, your body and the pace that you set by the speed you walk at makes for a tremendous endurance builder. I am happy that they brought this thing in. i was starting to get bored with my workouts. i find this machine challenging yet fun. like when you were a kid climbing the jungle jim and shit.
