If you update to the newest iOS, you won't be able to jailbreak. That is why you were asked what version iOS you have. Go to settings>general>about>version. Phone Post 3.0

I have mine, but I was under the impression that another phone could not use the same blobs as another?

Pretty much. But, what he's really telling you is not to restore the iPhone, because it will automatically update to 7.1.1.

You don't want that to happen because a jailbreak is not available for anything over 7.0.6. Phone Post 3.0

nope pretty sure they're still specific. I'm still on 7.0.4 but if my phone wasn't jailbroken I couldn't live with it Phone Post 3.0
