It doesn’t matter what the rules of combat are. To the casual eye it’s two guys fighting. It can be mma rules, kick boxing or boxing. Ufc fighters get no forgiveness for losing boxing matches. The “but if it was mma” excuse holds no merit.

You don’t get to come up with excuses after the fact. Hockey players play international tournaments like the olympics with a slightly different set of rules. Fighters should be able to handle themselves when they change the rule sets. Or maybe ufc fighters can only fight inside the ufc rules inside a cage.

These threads are funny, considering the majority of people who bought and watched Jake vs Anderson, Jake vs Woodley, Jake vs Askren, etc., are MMA fans, first and foremost. They love Anderson no matter what, and aren’t fooled into thinking a 25 year old beating a 47 year old in a boxing match means much more than that.
