Jake did not look ready for a title fight in his UFC debut.
He's in the mix.

there needs to be a definitive challenger. shields is not quite there yet. if he wins two more fights, i'd give him it.
i still say that shields and fitch should fight for no.1 contender, but the ufc won't do it. they need as much challengers to the belt as possible.
Shields didn't do shit against Kampmann and that decision could have easily went the other way watch the shit with out all the shields nut hugging and you might see it differently Jake has nothing for gsp I would actually pick Kos over shields all day
well, Kampmann would be the number one contender if he wouldn't have lost to shields.
People were expecting Shields to do a Jesus levitation while kicking Kampmann's ass. I guess they've never seen him fight.
He cam in to the top promotion in the world and fought, more or less, the top contender. Most other guys work their way up before getting fed to the wolves. the only other guy that I can remember that happening to is Hendo. He had to fight the 2 champs right out of the shoot(but I guess it wasn't hendo's UFC debut).

Dana said he is the next for a shot earlier, they just arent pumping him up because they know he wont win.
Jake gets too much flak for the Kampmann fight. Kampmann totally dominated Paulo Thiago and was about 5 seconds from putting him to sleep when time ran out. People talk like he's some sort of scrub.
