This would be an awesome fight! If I had to pick, I think i'd take Shields...

Both are bad mofo's and helluva nice guys... Hard to root against either!   IMO Jake has the edge on the ground, John has the edge standing up!

Jake is running out of competition; Daley is retiring for now.. Aoki can fight at 170; Nick Thompson, Misaki (who Jake Drew with) is out there; who else?

Fitch on the other hand has endless possible top opponents.

How are Jake's takedowns compared to, say Diego's? Sanchez had very little luck getting the fight against Fitch to the ground in top position.

I am high on Shields as well but until Jake beats someone in the top 5 he can not possibly be ranked in the top 5.

I do think Jake beats Jon though..

Jon Fitch likes to wear you down with his wrestling, great strength and size that won't fly with Jake who is a very big WW and strong Fighter as well with better grappling/BJJ. I think Jake uses his better grappling/BJJ to manuever around taking Fitch's back for a RNC. It may take until the 3 round but I see Jake doing it.

Jake is a better wrestler and better grappler. he has a great chin and Fitch doesnt have a big advantage standing if any.

If any of you wanna know the results to this come watch them spar at AKA any monday, wed or fri. I must first say that they two of the top five WW in the world so you can imagen how amazing these sparring sessions are to watch.

BTW...Admission is $100 a person which includes sparring sessions from Josh Koscheck/Gilbert Melendez/Josh Thomson/Frankie Edgar/Chris Liguori, Cain Velasques/Paul Buentello/Mike Kyle/Christian Welsch.
