Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jamahal Hill disagrees with the notion that his division is among the weakest.

Since Jon Jones vacated the title and left 205 pounds in 2020, the weight class has experienced a tumultuous period that’s resulted in many dropping it down the order when it comes to the UFC’s most enthralling divisions.

Perhaps contributing to it has been the multiple title changes, a couple of which derived from forced relinquishments in recent times. After a shoulder injury led to Jiří Procházka vacating in late 2022, Hill’s subsequent reign was cut short by a torn Achilles before he could make a defense.
With former middleweight kingpin Alex Pereira now at the helm, many are hoping that the light heavyweight division can return to its former glory. For now, though, the weight class remains largely toward the bottom of many lists.

ESPN Gives LHW A D-, Hill Reacts With Fury

That’s certainly the case for those at ESPN MMA, with the outlet recently giving the light heavyweight division a D- when grading divisions for the first quarter of 2024 in a social media post.
The grade put the 205-pound weight class below bantamweight, middleweight, featherweight, lightweight, women’s flyweight, welterweight, and heavyweight.

Never one to remain silent, Hill took to the comments section to bash the assessment.

“The disrespect is crazy!!! Headlining UFC 300 main and preliminaries but LHW is the weak? They call us to save cards!!!”

Hill is slated to headline next weekend’s milestone pay-per-view event in Las Vegas, challenging for the gold he never lost against Pereira.

It’s worth noting that a number of other options were first explored, and the promotion’s decision to settle on “Poatan” vs. “Sweet Dreams” has been criticized by some corners of the fanbase.
Nevertheless, Hill will look to boost the division’s standing early into the second quarter of 2024 by delivering a standout performance in his return from a serious injury.

Hill is a narcissist.

If they were grading his tattoos, a D- would be generous.
