Considering all the guys that get cut and he gets another fight?
Jason Reinhardt drops to bantamweight for August fight against Edwin Figueroa
Submission specialist Jason Reinhardt will make his 135-pound debut on August 14 in Milwaukee when he meets rising prospect Edwin Figueroa as part of a UFC Live 5 line-up already featuring Jim Miller’s attempt to solidify his contendership by facing former WEC lightweight champ Ben Henderson and Dan Hardy duking it out with Chris Lytle.
News of Reinhardt’s forthcoming foray with Figueroa was reported by the UFC as was the date of his official dip into the bantamweight pool.
Though the 20-2 Reinhardt is coming off a loss to Tiequan Zhang from February, he has remarkably finished every opponent he’s beaten including sixteen by way of submission and has shown a willingness to go all out early on in the past as evident by the immense number of first round conclusions on his record.
Standing opposite from Reinhardt in the cage, “Fight of the Night” winner Figueroa may have been on the wrong end of the exciting decision defeat to Michael McDonald at UFN 24 but impressed all who caught the bout with his slick groundwork and stand-up prowess. He is 7-1 in his career with the bulk of his wins coming via strikes.
Other match-ups scheduled for UFC Live 5 include Duane Ludwig vs. Amir Sadollah and Stephan Bonnar vs. Karlos Vemola.

dear five ounces of pain, do a little more reading on fightfinder and you might find something else "remarkable"
I consider Jason a good friend of mine. You can say what you want about the guy, but he comes to fight and is reliable when it comes to taking fights for the UFC. This is gonna be his 3rd weight class in as many UFC fights.
I think we'll see a completely different fighter with Jason at his natural weight class. I talked to him earlier today and he is fired up!
It is surprising to me...simply because he got absolutely SMOKED in his last two fights. Usually if a guy loses two in a row and they are competitive fights they can get cut.
He got steamrolled horribly. That said, why not? If he's moving down in weight that is a good reason and lets be honest 135-145 have ZERO depth in them.
The guy has the biggest padded record ever and dodged fights all over the Midwest. He gets a fight in the UFC and gets smoked. He somehow gets a second and gets destroyed and now he gets a third while legit fighters are one and done? There is no way he wins this fight or is even competitive . And the excuse about him finally getting a fight at his natural weight is bs as well. He wasn't at a size advantage in those fights just in skills. This fight will be his third that won't make it out of the first round.
MMA veteran Jason Reinhardt wants Miguel Torres in the WEC
MMA veteran Jason Reinhardt is eyeing Miguel Torres and World Extreme Cagefighting's 135-pound division.
"I'm undefeated at 135 and Miguel Torres is not," Reinhardt said during a promotional interview for his upcoming Courage Fighting Championships event in Decatur, Illinois. "He's the best fighter in the world they say, so I would love the chance to compete against him and fight him in the WEC."
Reinhardt, 20-1 in MMA and coming off a submission loss to Joe Lauzon at UFC 78, says the decision to no longer fight at 155 comes from his family and those around him.
"I wanted to but my wife, my family and everyone is telling me ‘ go to 35,' " said Reinhardt.
"He's an awesome fighter and I respect him greatly so let's do it," Reinhardt said. "I would love the opportunity and he should give it to me."
