java help please!!!

Hey guys,

I was just testing my yahoo system so i could run a fantasy baseball draft, but the java test wasnt successful. The error was that the run time environment could not be loaded, I dl'd the java update but it still didnt fix the run time environment problem, anybody know anything about java and how to fix this problem?
any help would be great

what browser are you using and is java enabled or installed as a browser plugin?

im using internet explorer 7 and as for the second question how can i check to see if java is installed as a browser plugin

SYMPTOMS

Applets do not run.


CAUSE

Java Runtime Environment (JRE) is not enabled in the web browser. If the JRE is already installed but applets do not work, you may need to enable the JRE through your web browser.


SOLUTION

Please follow these instructions to enable the Sun JRE though your Web browser:

Internet Explorer 4.x and Up
  1. Click "Tools" --> "Internet Options"
  2. Select the Advanced Tab, and scroll down to "Java (Sun)"
  3. Check the box next to the "Use Java 2" version
  4. Next, select the Security Tab, and select the "Custom Level" button
  5. Scroll down to "Scripting of Java applets"
  6. Make sure the "Enable" radio button is checked.
  7. Click OK to save your preference.

I followed those steps and it still didnt work I downloaded the most recent update for java but still nothing worked. I know got this message on my screen not sure if it has anything to do with java but this is what i got:

iexplore.exe application erro

"This instruction at 0x2e746e65" referenced memory at 0x2e746e65" the memory could not be read.

any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated

this is the first time i have had a problem with java on my laptop it runs fine on my home pc I was able to run a live football draft a few months ago on my laptop this problem just poped up the other day

um, my only other suggestion would be to trash ie 7 and install firefox ... 'cause that error is indicative with a problem with your browser

I dl'd firefox and my java works on there so thats great just find it weird that it stopped working on IE 7 for me

Glad to hear, GracieKillar ... You'll be happier for it ... the only thing good about IE 7 is that they FINALLY introduced tabs ...
