Jbj could of cleared 500k on saturday

For somebody who only fights for money, why turn down such a payday?

Fight purse ppv money sponser money possible otn bonus

Zuffa would also of given him a nice little thank you bonus no doubt.

A lot of money to give up just for the sake of ducking an opponent. Phone Post

500k?  he would have made 2 mil...  easy payday fighting a guy who had no training camp, and who fights in a lower weight class.

Now he has to fight machida on 3 weeks notice who is way more dangerous...  does this make any sense?

This has to be the dumbest career move ever.  He could have collected the easy paycheck next saturday in what would have been a simple sparring session and then he could of had a full training camp to focus on Machida...

LOL @ $500k.

He would of made easy 7 figures, without a shadow of a doubt.

Now he is going to waste money on ANOTHER training camp to earn less money.

He gets points on the PPV. He'll make even more money fighting against a better opponent on a better card that will be the only PPV in the month of September so it's guaranteed to do a higher buyrate.

And his first fight with Machida was hampered in what way?

What the fuck does the first Machida fight have do with anything? We're talking about Jones' financial interest in turning this fight down.

The new 151 card in Toronto is going to sell more than the piece of shit that Zuffa wanted to put on next week and hence put more money in Jones' bank account. If you deny that, you're living in fantasyland.

Because he doesn't need Sonnen to make money. He's a bigger draw than him.

UFC 152 is much more stacked now so it's easy to see in hindsight he made a better financial move.

It sold the fewest number of PPV buys out of all of Jon's main event matchups.

A PPV with a storyline like Chael's would have every single hardcore mma fan watching and lots of casuals as well. Would have done much better than Machida. Phone Post

Chael posed almost no threat to Jones... what was he gonna do blanket Jon for 5 rounds with coming off of no training camp?  was chael gonna knock him out when he hasnt knocked anyone out.

This was an easy pay day for jones...  Now he has 3 weeks notice to fight the trickiest fighter in the LHW division.

This made absolutely no sense.

But it will be oh so worth it for 400k buys.

So you believe a card promoted only for 1 week being anemic besides the main event, would sell much more than 152 that is stacked right now? How many buys did Chael get when he headlined without Anderson again?

Fights such as Bisping/Stann in there could easily headline a free card or so. Can't say the same for any bouts from 151.

Pretty good chance Jones loses his title over this decision... that's likely to be the biggest consequence.
